Hai Phong spends 2.7 billion VND to reward students and teachers who won Olympic medals

On the afternoon of July 31, Hai Phong city held a ceremony to commend and reward Hai Phong students and teachers who achieved high results in the 2024 regional and international Olympic competitions. The total bonus for officials, teachers and students is 2.7 billion VND.

In the 2023-2024 school year, Hai Phong has achieved many brilliant achievements in training and fostering excellent international students.

Hai Phong is one of the few localities with 4 students participating in 4 teams (Math, Physics, Biology, IT) and won 5 medals (1 International Gold medal in Biology, 1 International Silver medal in Physics, 1 International Bronze medal in Math, 1 Asian Bronze medal in Physics).

With this achievement, the Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee decided to award Certificates of Merit and prizes to four students from Tran Phu High School for the Gifted, including: Nguyen Si Hieu, a 12th grade Biology student who won a Gold medal at the International Biology Olympiad with a prize of 500 million VND.

A reward of 400 million VND for Nguyen Thanh Duy, a 12th grade Physics major, won a Silver medal at the International Physics Olympiad and a Bronze medal at the Asian Physics Olympiad; Pham Tran Minh Duc, a 12th grade Math major, won a Bronze medal at the International Mathematics Olympiad with a reward of 300 million VND; Nguyen Tung Lam, a 12th grade IT major, won a Silver medal at the Asia -Pacific Informatics Olympiad with a reward of 200 million VND.

The city leaders also awarded Certificates of Merit and rewards to teachers who directly taught, teachers who participated in teaching students with high achievements in regional and international Olympic competitions in 2024 and to the Board of Directors of Tran Phu High School for the Gifted.

Nguyen Si Hieu, a 12th grade Biology student at Tran Phu High School for the Gifted, shared that they were very proud to have brought home prestigious medals. The competitions helped them realize that human knowledge is extremely vast, only with constant efforts and an open heart ready to share, learn and absorb new things can they have enough knowledge to integrate into the global knowledge society.

At this time, you not only look back at the successes you have achieved but also aim for higher goals in the future.

Nguyen Si Hieu believes that with determination and will to strive, he and his friends will continue to reap even more brilliant successes.

Teacher Kim Thi Huong - Biology teacher, Tran Phu High School for the Gifted, on behalf of the teachers leading the teams, expressed sincere thanks to the city leaders, the leaders of the Department of Education and Training, and Tran Phu High School for the Gifted for always paying the greatest attention and timely encouragement to the teams. This is a great motivation for teachers to always strive in the work of discovering and nurturing excellent students.

Teacher Kim Thi Huong promises to continue to do her best to fulfill her duties, actively improve her professional skills, detect and nurture students early, and make every effort with the hope of contributing a small part to the construction and development of the city's education sector.

The commendation and reward ceremony is a timely recognition by the city and the education sector of the achievements that teachers and students have made.

Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Tien Chau suggested that the education sector continue to spread this program to all students in the area to create motivation and widely spread the spirit of studiousness in society; at the same time, he hoped that the education sector would pay more attention to mass education to create conditions for new factors to shine, especially, creating an environment for students to be able to develop comprehensively in both intelligence and strength, love, pride in their homeland and self-reliance.
