(CLO) On March 13, the People's Committee of Tien Lang district, Hai Phong city held a ceremony to receive the National Monument ranking certificate for President Ton Duc Thang Memorial House in Dai Do village, Tien Cuong commune. The event took place on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the death of President Ton Duc Thang (March 30, 1980 - March 30, 2025).
According to Decision No. 3547 dated November 20, 2024, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism decided to rank the President Ton Duc Thang Memorial House in Tien Cuong Commune, Tien Lang District, Hai Phong City as a National Monument.
Tien Lang district leaders received the certificate of national monument ranking of President Ton Duc Thang Memorial House.
This is a great pride of not only Tien Lang people but also of Hai Phong city people, affirming the stature and position of President Ton Duc Thang Memorial House - a historical and cultural work, a place to commemorate the merits, life and revolutionary career of President Ton Duc Thang for the Party and the nation, of great significance in educating the revolutionary tradition and love for the homeland for the young generation. And demonstrating the responsibility of the whole society in preserving and promoting the value of heritage.
President Ton Duc Thang Memorial House is the only memorial site in Hai Phong as well as in the North about President Ton Duc Thang.
The memorial house of President Ton Duc Thang in Tien Cuong commune, Tien Lang district, Hai Phong city was built on the area of the Nam Bo farm (later Quy Cao farm). From 1957 to about 1968, the Nam Bo farm was the place where cadres and children of Southerners who gathered in the North worked, worked, and produced.
In 1958, Vice President Ton Duc Thang visited the Southern farm. When he arrived, Uncle Ho was very moved by the land and people very close to his homeland in the South. With the wish to build a house on this land for the convenience of visiting his hometown, the Party Central Committee approved Uncle Ho's choice of a location to build a house next to Quy Cao ferry, on the Thai Binh River (now Dai Do village, Tien Cuong commune) and spent all the prize money of 24,000 rubles from the Lenin International Peace Prize awarded by the Party and State of the Soviet Union to build a house in the Southern architecture.

During the years 1958 - 1960, President Ton Duc Thang came here many times to encourage and visit the Southern people in the Southern farms. After President Ton Duc Thang passed away, the place where he lived and worked was identified as a historical and cultural work, a place to commemorate his contributions, life and revolutionary career to the Party, State and nation, which has great significance in educating the revolutionary tradition and love for the homeland for the young generation.
This is also the only memorial site in Hai Phong as well as in the North about President Ton Duc Thang, a staunch revolutionary soldier, a great patriot, a talented and virtuous leader but very modest and simple, a symbol of the strength of national and international solidarity, a close comrade in arms of President Ho Chi Minh.
