The Department of Construction of Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces has just announced that it has requested the People's Committees of districts and cities to review and assess the current status of suspension bridges in the area for repair, to ensure traffic safety for people, especially during the rainy season.
According to Mr. Ha Anh Thai, Deputy Director of Gia Lai Department of Construction, in the province, there are 38 suspension bridges under the management of communes and districts.
Of these, 23 bridges are slightly damaged and need maintenance and repair. 10 bridges are severely damaged and pose a safety risk.
In particular, the suspension bridge in Tung Ke village (Ayun commune, Chu Se district) is currently unsafe, affecting people's travel.
In Dak Ha district, Kon Tum province, according to the district's report to Kon Tum Department of Construction, as of the end of May 2025, there were 14 suspension bridges in the district. Of these, 8/14 bridges were under maintenance and repair with a cost of more than 3 billion VND.
The current status of these bridges is damaged suspension cables; some cross beams, railings combined with B40 mesh show signs of instability and vibration; bridge abutments are eroded.
