On July 1, Major General Dinh Van Noi, Director of Quang Ninh Provincial Police, and his delegation visited and presented financial support to Pham Quang Vinh, born on January 31, 2016, residing in Dong Xa commune, Van Don, who has heart disease and is being treated at the National Children's Hospital.
Pham Quang Vinh has been in poor health since birth, often having fevers. At 6 months old, his family took him to the hospital for examination. The doctor diagnosed him with congenital complete atrioventricular block (cardiovascular disorder) and prescribed a pacemaker. The cost of the pacemaker is up to hundreds of millions of dong. Since 2016, the family has had to regularly take Vinh to the hospital for examination. Currently, the pacemaker has expired and needs to be replaced by surgery.
As the third child in the family, his parents are self-employed and have unstable income. Although the family had to borrow 100 million VND to treat him, it was still not enough to pay for this surgery.
Vinh's grandmother shared: "My family has tried our best to borrow money to treat him. His illness required him to have his machine replaced many times at a very high cost. When he was young, he could have made money to help him. We saved up all the money for his treatment. Now that we are old and sick and cannot make money, we don't know what to do. Seeing the machine's battery gradually run out means that our grandson's life is fragile and we can't bear it."
Understanding the family situation of Pham Quang Vinh, Quang Ninh Provincial Police decided to support Vinh's heart surgery costs with an amount of 50 million VND.
At the meeting, Major General Dinh Van Noi, Director of the Provincial Police, presented the support money to the child's family and encouraged Vinh's family to try to maintain their health and stay optimistic to take care of and treat Vinh so that he can soon recover and return to his family.
With the support costs of Quang Ninh Provincial Police, along with the child's existing insurance, the cost of this surgery has basically been completed. Vinh has also had a successful heart replacement surgery, and his family will welcome Vinh home with joy and happiness.
