The Vietnam Center for Conservation of Natural Resources and Rescue of Animals and Plants was established in Phong Dien on the basis of cooperation between the two sides.

Achievements in science and technology

On April 8, 2022, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the People's Committee of Hue City signed a Cooperation Agreement on Science and Technology for the period 2022 - 2025, with a vision to 2030. After more than 3 years of implementation, Hue City has actively created conditions and carried out land allocation procedures for the Academy to build and develop the Central Institute for Scientific Research while continuing to invest in infrastructure, forming applied research centers and handling marine environmental incidents.

The development of the Vietnam Center for Conservation of Natural Resources and Phong Dien Animal and Plant Rescue, together with the support for the development of the Central Coastal Nature Museum (under the Department of Science and Technology), has made an important contribution to biodiversity conservation, education and ecotourism development for Hue city and neighboring areas. The Institute has also invested many funding packages to develop infrastructure, equipment, and improve research capacity.

During this period, the two sides have implemented many scientific and technological topics and projects to serve the city's socio -economic development, including many urgent studies on aquatic resources conservation, medicinal plant development, environmental protection and climate change response, such as: Project on developing goby resources, project on applying biotechnology to treat dioxin-contaminated soil at A So airport (A Luoi)...

In addition, scientists of the Academy have actively participated in scientific councils, providing professional advice, supporting localities in solving urgent issues, typically participating in the Science and Technology Advisory Council to appraise the technological plan of the Kanglongda Hue Factory project...

Chairman of Hue City People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong hopes to continue receiving support and cooperation from the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology to promote the development of local science and technology.

Chairman of Hue City People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong acknowledged the contributions, support and companionship of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology to the city in the past time. At the same time, he said that on December 30, 2023, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1745/QD-TTg approving the Hue City Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, in which the goal by 2030 is to build Hue into one of the country's major centers of science, technology and innovation associated with a center of education - training and specialized healthcare; a center of national and international exhibition destinations on biomedical science, pharmacy, information technology, digital transformation and environmental protection science, new materials, etc.

Hue City believes that with the prestige and research capacity of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, along with the potential, advantages and determination to innovate of Hue City, the new cooperation period 2025 - 2030 will create great strides, contributing to affirming Hue's position not only as a cultural and tourism center but also as a center of science, technology and innovation of the whole country.

Continued intensive cooperation

Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Truong Luu affirmed that there are many goals and challenges facing the city, especially in the context that the country is determined to implement Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the development of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation. Through this working session and signing of the agreement, Hue city hopes to continue to receive advice, support and companionship from the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology to help Hue city make great strides, contributing to affirming Hue's position not only as a cultural and tourism center but also as a center of science, technology and innovation of the whole country.

Professor, Academician Chau Van Minh, President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, acknowledged and highly appreciated Hue city for having many mechanisms to encourage science and technology organizations and enterprises of the city in coordinating, receiving, transferring and applying research results and new technologies of the Academy to serve the socio-economic development of the locality.

Professor, Academician Chau Van Minh suggested that Hue city and the Institute should continue to coordinate activities to order and propose science and technology tasks suitable to local realities; have specific forms for linking science and technology implementation activities with training and improving the qualifications of local human resources. The Institute pledged to continue to strengthen research, transfer of science, technology and innovation, link scientific research with practice, promote science and technology development, contribute to the socio-economic development of Hue city in the spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, striving to soon turn Hue city into a science and technology center of the country.
