Hue warns of impact of heavy rain, plans to evacuate people

According to the Department of Irrigation and Climate Change of Hue city, due to the influence of storm No. 10, from September 27 to 29, the city will have heavy rain, some places will have very heavy rain; total rainfall for the period will be 100 - 200mm, some places will be over 300mm.

Authorities warn that the impact of heavy rains is likely to cause floods, flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas and along rivers and streams; flooding in low-lying areas downstream of rivers; urban flooding in the city center, low-lying roads and places with poor drainage systems.

Localities in Hue city have made plans to evacuate over 10,000 households with over 32,000 people to safe places; concentrated in coastal areas and lagoons. Up to now, all over 1,100 fishing boats with over 8,000 workers of Hue city have returned to safe shelters. The city currently has about 5,600 hectares of aquaculture that have not been fully harvested.

The authorities have guided people on how to ensure the safety of aquaculture ponds, cages, and storm shelters on rivers, lagoons, and bays; and inspected the proper implementation of regulations on technical equipment to ensure the safety of people and fishing vessels. The city has also completed the reinforcement of more than 118,000 trees, and inspected nearly 700 mobile transmission stations, high-altitude antenna stations, infrastructure works, and historical relics.

Units have prepared reservoir operation scenarios for forecasted rainfall levels of 100 - 200 mm, with some places over 300 mm, to proactively operate inter-reservoirs safely when heavy rain occurs. The city's 2025 Summer-Autumn rice area has been harvested at 98.5%, with about 383 hectares of unripe rice remaining, mainly in the mountainous communes of A Luoi.

The Standing Committee of the Hue City Party Committee has issued a telegram requesting the serious implementation of the Central and City's directives on natural disaster prevention, control and response; grasp the situation, closely monitor the developments of storm No. 10, proactively deploy response work according to the approved plan following the "four on-site" motto with a spirit of urgency, determination, and suitability to the specific situation in the locality. Ensure smooth communication to serve the direction and command of storm response in all situations; strengthen information work, widely disseminate, promptly and accurately disseminate information on storm developments, activate forms of natural disaster warning so that people know and proactively prevent and combat. At the same time, urgently review and resolutely evacuate people from vulnerable and dangerous areas, especially coastal areas, river mouths, areas at risk of landslides, deep flooding, and flash floods; Do not let people stay on boats at anchorages, on rafts, or aquaculture watchtowers.

Members of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, City Party Committee members, and Party Secretaries at the commune level directly go to their respective areas to inspect, urge, and direct the response work. Heads of Party Committees, authorities, agencies, and units are responsible for any major damage caused by lack of responsibility, delay, or subjectivity in direction.
