TP - The information that the Ministry of Education and Training plans to tighten early admission quotas for universities has increased pressure on students. Perhaps, many students have "turned around" and seriously invested in the High School Graduation Exam.
Phan Thi Hien Anh, a 12D6 student at Viet Duc High School (Hanoi), said she set a goal of being admitted to the National Economics University. Since the beginning of the school year, Hien Anh has been practicing for the IELTS exam and reviewing for the aptitude test to meet the early admission requirements.
However, when I learned that the Ministry of Education and Training plans to tighten early admission quotas for universities, I was somewhat worried because the chance of being admitted early will be less.
"If before I only focused on the conditions to be able to pass the entrance exam early, now I will have to divide my efforts into many options, including the High School Graduation Exam next year," Hien Anh said.
According to Tran Duc Kien, a 12A1 student at Viet Duc High School, tightening the early admission quota will have a significant impact on the orientation of 12th grade students this year. That is, they will have to invest and focus more on the high school graduation exam.
Personally, Kien chose the combination of Math, Physics, and Chemistry to pursue his goal of entering Hanoi University of Science and Technology, so he prepared for the university's thinking assessment exam and practiced for the IELTS certificate in parallel with reviewing for the high school graduation exam.
Hope to have an enrollment plan soon

Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Hue, a Math teacher at Dong Anh High School (Hanoi), said that the new graduation exam plan for 2025 will have multiple-choice subjects with new question formats, increasing the difficulty of differentiation questions.
For example, in the Math exam, the sample exam has two more question formats: true-false and fill-in-the-blank, making it impossible for students to study vaguely and still get high scores. The true-false question format has four possible answers. If a candidate answers one question correctly, they will only get 0.1 point, if they answer two questions correctly, they will get 0.25 points, if they answer three questions correctly, they will get 0.5 points, and if they answer four questions correctly, they will get 1 point.
Thus, with this type of 4-question test, students only need to make one mistake in all the questions to lose 2 points. Or the fill-in-the-blank question type that requires students to calculate on the draft and then fill in the result also has the risk of being wrong, if the method is correct but the result is wrong, students will "go home empty-handed".
Previously, when taking an essay test, students would solve a problem with all the correct steps and get an incorrect result and still get a reasonable score.
“For those reasons, since the beginning of the school year, many 12th graders do not want to take the “last gamble” of the high school graduation exam, but want to focus on early admission methods to feel more confident. However, with the plan to tighten the early admission quota to no more than 20%, students are forced to “turn around” and focus on exam preparation,” Ms. Hue shared.
Ms. Nguyen Boi Quynh, Principal of Viet Duc High School (Hanoi) said that the draft Circular amending and supplementing a number of articles of the University Admissions Regulations, which includes regulations to tighten early admission quotas of universities, has more or less affected the psychology of students.
The school has encouraged students that no matter what the plan is, the most important thing is that they still have to study to have a solid knowledge foundation to prepare for the graduation exam and at the same time prepare other conditions for admission when the university announces the plan.
Ms. Quynh hopes that with only one semester left until the end of the school year, universities will soon announce their 2025 enrollment plans so that schools and students can prepare and avoid the situation of "too late to jump".
