Record number of consulting booths

This year's Tuoi Tre newspaper's admissions and career counseling festival recorded a record number of consulting booths with nearly 250 consulting booths from 120 educational institutions. In addition to providing admissions consulting information and a "strong" team ready to answer all questions for candidates, each consulting booth of the universities also had many attractive activities, including technology experiences, cultural exchanges, games... to enrich the festival.

This year, Saigon International University (SIU) introduced a robot named SIUBOT, researched and developed by the university’s SIU AI Lab. MSc. Cao Quang Tu, director of admissions at SIU, said SIUBOT is a high-performance robotic platform designed for a wide range of multimodal expressive gestures and behaviors.

Candidates can ask questions about admissions and interact with SIUBOT. In addition, all faculties and majors have representatives at the fair to advise candidates, and students also have the opportunity to participate in the school's special scholarship programs.

Ms. Phan Diem Linh, in charge of career guidance - Asia-Europe Career Guidance, said that at the festival, the school's students and lecturers will bring a bartending experience with the highlight being the competition of making a giant glass of water.

You can watch the performances of bartenders, participate in the bottle tossing challenge - a difficult technique in the bartender industry. In addition, candidates can participate in photography experiences to better understand the activities in the multimedia communication profession.

MSc. Phan Buu Toan, vice principal of Saigon College of Tourism, said that in addition to receiving career advice from teachers, students coming to Saigon College of Tourism's booth can also participate in many interesting activities.

This year the school organizes mini games of questions and answers about tourist attractions. Students with high scores can receive many gifts such as backpacks, suitcases, etc. There will also be entertaining games for students to experience applying skills when becoming a tour guide.

Some new programs of the school on study abroad projects in Switzerland and Japan will also be updated.

Many foreign schools

Hong Kong University is the first unit to attend Tuoi Tre Newspaper's Admissions and Career Guidance Fair. Mr. Vu Hai Truong - Director of Undergraduate Admissions, Hong Kong University - said: "For the first time, we want parents and students to have more information about Hong Kong University, one of the prestigious universities in Asia with diverse and quality training programs and majors, as well as to give students more choices and study goals in the future."

The representative of the education department of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City said that 20 Taiwanese universities will attend this festival, most of which are currently the top Taiwanese universities. Representatives of the admissions departments of the schools will come directly from Taiwan to Ho Chi Minh City to meet candidates at the festival, introducing study programs and scholarships for Vietnamese students.

In particular, this year the Taiwan education consulting booth will bring a very new and very hot program called "International Industrial Talent Education Special Program" (INTENSE program). This is a training program according to the needs of businesses.

Vietnamese students studying this program will be exempted from tuition fees by the Ministry of Education of Taiwan, provided with an air ticket, and the company will provide a living allowance of 10,000 NTD/month. After graduation, students will be able to work for businesses in Taiwan.

Technical consulting for chip and semiconductor industry

Up to now, a series of universities have announced completely new majors and training programs for the 2024 enrollment season.

Some universities that have traditionally had strong economic majors will for the first time offer technology majors, while some universities famous for their social sciences and humanities programs offer engineering or economics majors.

In particular, for the first time, majors related to the chip and semiconductor industries will also be introduced by technology-strong schools during the admissions and career counseling fair.

In response to the "hot" need to learn about new professions at the fair, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hoai Thang - Head of Training Department of University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) - said that with "hot trend" majors, students have great job opportunities.

However, students need to learn carefully about the industry, evaluate their ability to study in terms of learning capacity, personal orientation and learn about the school's training orientation in the foundation or application direction to make the right decision.

Candidates should take advantage of the opportunity to meet many schools and educational institutions during the festival to compare and contrast.

Interest in the aviation operations management industry

Huynh Le Cat Tuong likes the field of flight operations management. Cat Tuong said that because the field of study is very specific, in the southern region, training is almost only available at the Vietnam Aviation Academy.

During the fair, the academy will have a consulting booth, so Cat Tuong is eager to attend to meet directly with the teachers and students of the academy to ask for more information about the major. Cat Tuong wants to know more about the school's training program, tuition fees and some policies for students when studying.

Bring questions to the festival

Le Quang Vinh (12th grade student at Tran Van Hoai High School, Tien Giang) wants to study math pedagogy. He has had a passion for math pedagogy since middle school, partly because he likes math, and partly because he wants to teach.

Coming to this festival, Quang Vinh wants to learn about the school's admission methods because in recent years some teacher training schools have added their own exams or criteria.

As for Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, after a period of researching different professions, the "most promising candidate" up to now for her is the law profession. Having been introduced to the law profession by some high school teachers, she found this job quite interesting and seemed to suit her abilities and personality.

However, Kim Ngan is still wondering what she will learn in college, what are the opportunities for practice and work. In addition, which school is suitable for her score and ability?

Kim Ngan said she will choose schools that offer law training at the fair to consult, hoping to get as many perspectives as possible.
