A vivid picture in the heart of the coastal city
Nestled on the Ca Ty River, Duc Thang fishing village, Phan Thiet Ward, Lam Dong Province (Duc Thang Ward, Phan Thiet City, old Binh Thuan ) appears like a vivid picture in the heart of the coastal city. Looking down from above, rows of boats anchored tightly on the river surface, hundreds of green baskets floating like artistic dots on the calm water.

Along the shore, rows of houses with old tiled roofs are nestled next to the stone embankment, where coastal residents still earn their living by the traditional fishing profession for generations. Amidst rapid urbanization, Duc Thang still retains its original appearance, becoming one of the most beautiful remaining fishing villages of the ancient Phan Thiet sea.
From a high angle, the Ca Ty River appears like a green silk strip, embracing the fishing village. On both sides of the bank are rows of fishing boats, forming long "boat walls", a unique landscape, long an unmistakable symbol of Phan land.
Every early morning, the atmosphere at Con Cha fishing port is bustling: the sound of motorboats roaring from afar, the crisp laughter of fish traders. The scene appears like a film, both lively and full of coastal character.
At the intersection between the river and the sea, each small boat weaves its way out to sea, leaving behind a white wave trail on the blue water. The scene of fishermen drying their fishing nets and catching fish right next to the riverbank creates a scene that is both intimate and poetic.
In the middle of that village, the Nam Hai Dai Tuong Quan Tomb is the center of the spiritual life of Duc Thang fishermen. Here, people worship the skeleton of the whale - the guardian god of the sea, who has for generations protected boats from storms, bringing fishermen safely back to shore with full holds of fish and shrimp.

Will "attract customers" with its own identity
According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tu, a fisherman in the old Duc Thang Ward, the whale worship culture is not only a belief, but also deeply rooted in community life. Every year in the sixth lunar month, the Phan Thiet Whale Festival is solemnly held, with a boat from Lang Ong to Ca Ty estuary to perform the ritual of carrying the whale's spirit tablet amidst drums, gongs, flags and flowers, and performances of Ba Trao singing, lion dances, and folk performances typical of the coastal region.
Today, although Phan Thiet has changed dramatically, Duc Thang fishing village still retains its own identity. Not only is it a place to live and fish, it is also a vibrant cultural space, imbued with the soul of a fishing village.

This place has become an attractive cultural and experiential tourist destination, especially for young people. Visitors can immerse themselves in the life of the fishing village, go fishing on boats, catch squid at night; enjoy fresh seafood at the wharf, or simply sit on the banks of the Ca Ty River, watch the boats anchored in the sunset, feel the peaceful rhythm of life in the midst of the changing city.
Talking to us, Mr. Tran Nguyen Loc, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phan Thiet Ward, said: "Phan Thiet is a ward with many special characteristics of a coastal village, not only Van Thuy Tu, the place where fishermen worship whales, but also Nghinh Ong festival, Quan Thanh De Quan festival, Mid-Autumn festival... all have the nuances of an ancient cultural region. We will propose many solutions to preserve, conserve and promote the cultural values of this place, to have more unique tourism products, to attract tourists to visit." (continued)
