
In today's competition day (September 12), two important swimmers Nguyen Huy Hoang and Vo Thi My Tien participated in the 10km men's and 10km women's races and both won gold medals.
The men's 10km distance had 8 athletes participating from Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia. Nguyen Huy Hoang finished first, winning the championship with a result of 1 hour 52 minutes 44.66 seconds. Second place, receiving a silver medal was Singaporean athlete Artyom Lukasevits (2 hours 07 minutes 38.72 seconds). Third place, receiving a bronze medal was Aflah Fadian Prawira (Indonesia, 2 hours 10 minutes 49.01 seconds).
In the women's 10km distance, swimmer Vo Thi My Tien achieved the best time of 2 hours 25 minutes 05.56 seconds to win the gold medal. The distance had 3 athletes participating.
This is the third time the Southeast Asian Long Course Swimming Championship has been held, but this is the first time the Vietnamese Swimming Team has participated. Therefore, Huy Hoang and My Tien's results are their first gold medals at the Southeast Asian tournament.
On the same day, September 12, Nguyen Ngoc Tuyet Han won the gold medal in the 10km women's race in the 16-17 age group with a time of 2 hours 28 minutes 40.11 seconds. The event had 8 athletes participating.
The Southeast Asian Long Course Swimming Championship takes place from September 12 to September 14. The Vietnamese team has registered 7 athletes to participate. The tournament has events of 5km, 10km for men; 5km, 10km for women; 4x1500m relay for mixed gender (2 men, 2 women) according to each age group.
