iPhone 17 Pro Max may use aluminum frame, instead of titanium

(Dan Tri) - Some leaked information suggests that the frame on the iPhone 17 Pro Max will use aluminum material, instead of the titanium frame like on current Pro models.

In a recent post on Weibo, Instant Digital (who regularly leaks information about Apple products) said that the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max duo will have a frame made of aluminum, instead of using a titanium frame like the previous version.

This source also confirmed that the aluminum frame will be very thin, contributing to the super-thin bezel for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. In addition, the weight of aluminum is also lighter than titanium, helping to reduce the overall weight of the device.

In addition to the aluminum material, the lower half of the back will still be finished from glass. This is to ensure the wireless charging feature on the Pro versions.

On the 2024 iPhone generation, Apple will only use aluminum for the standard iPhone 16 models. Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will have titanium frames. Currently, the source does not explain why the company uses aluminum on the Pro versions.

Apple is said to be changing the position of the "bitten apple" logo on the iPhone 17 Pro duo. Accordingly, this logo will be moved to the lower middle part of the back, right below the camera cluster.

However, the change will cause a problem when users use cases that support MagSafe wireless charging. Specifically, the MagSafe circle on the case may partially cover the Apple logo.

This will be the first time Apple has changed the logo position on the iPhone since the iPhone 11 series launched in 2020. Since then, the "apple" logo has always been placed in the center of the back of the device.

In addition, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max duo are also expected to have a completely new camera cluster design. Instead of being neatly located in the upper left corner as it is now, the camera cluster will be extended horizontally across the device.
