To realize the all-screen iPhone, Apple needs to integrate the front camera and FaceID module into the screen.

Apple has filed several patents over the years to combine these components and the control panel - something that other manufacturers have tried to do with similar solutions but without much success. Apple's latest patent, published by the specialized media, suggests that the company has found a possible solution to this problem.

Apple has long been interested in a bezel-less phone. Former Apple design chief Jony Ive highlighted bezel-less phones as the final design barrier for the perfect iPhone. Although Ive has been gone for more than five years, this goal continues to be an important part of the company's design.

The solution that Apple is aiming for is to integrate the front camera and Face ID module under the screen. Although some manufacturers have successfully hidden the camera, this affects the image quality. However, Apple requires more perfection.

With the Face ID module, transmitting infrared light through the display is a challenge because this can reduce the reliability and speed of facial recognition. Previously, Apple has experimented with selectively disabling pixels to improve light transmission.

Apple's latest patent proposes removing some of the sub-pixels, allowing infrared light to pass through without affecting the user experience.

According to information from 9to5Mac, one of the iPhone models expected to launch in 2025 may have a smaller Dynamic Island. It is likely that the ProMax variant will be the first model to integrate the Face ID module under the screen to realize this vision, with the front hole only for the camera.
