Originally developed for use in meteorology and topography, lidar technology is now being used for automotive sensors, allowing self-driving AVs to “see” and safely handle complex driving situations.

Similar to radar-based systems, lidar sensor manufacturers must ensure that lidar systems detect objects quickly and reliably, enabling advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) to function properly before they reach the market.
To accurately measure sensors today, designers need large spaces and traditional target boards. In addition, the industry faces the need to reduce sensor costs and mass produce them on a large scale.
The Keysight LTS solution addresses these challenges by simulating test targets at known distances and reflectivities in a compact, standardized bench setup. The solution is designed to simplify and reduce lidar sensor testing, validation, and production time through standardization and automation.
Keysight's solution also has the advantage of being small in size, supporting large measurement distances - the compact measurement table layout saves measurement space by simulating targets at distances from 3 meters to 300 meters and simulating surface reflectance from 10% to 94%.
