On the evening of September 14, the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) coordinated with the Hanoi Ornamental Plants Association to organize the opening ceremony of the first Hanoi Ornamental Plants Festival in 2024.

This is one of 17 events celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024) of Hanoi City.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Festival, Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Dai emphasized that the first Hanoi Ornamental Plants Festival in 2024 will have an exhibition area of ​​over 30,000 square meters and a space for activities spanning 80,000 square meters.

The event attracted the participation of over 1,000 participants from 55 provinces and cities across the country, with over 33,000 typical bonsai works and over 2,000 OCOP products and regional specialties.

Within the framework of the Festival, the Hanoi Open Ornamental Plants Competition 2024 will take place; displaying the quintessence of Vietnamese ornamental plants along with trade connection activities, promoting and introducing tens of thousands of ornamental plant works, OCOP products and regional specialties; Conference to connect artisans - entrepreneurs - typical garden owners nationwide.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dai believes that the first Ornamental Plants Festival in 2024 will exploit the cultural quintessence crystallized in ornamental plant works, craft village products, regional specialties, and OCOP products to increase the value of agricultural products, promote tourism development and typical ecological agricultural models of the Capital.

The Festival also aims to strengthen production links along the value chain, expand markets, create opportunities to promote trade connections, promote and develop the economic - cultural - artistic values ​​of Vietnamese ornamental plants and OCOP products domestically and internationally; honor the talented creations of the community of artisans, entrepreneurs, and typical garden owners nationwide.

Notably, during the Festival, responding to the call of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with the City's Ornamental Plants Association to organize an auction and launch a fundraising campaign to support people in localities affected by storm No. 3. Up to now, the auction of ornamental plants has raised over 480 million VND and raised 150 million VND to support people affected by storm No. 3.

This is a practical and meaningful work, promoting the tradition of "mutual love and support", "the whole leaf covers the torn leaf", joining hands to share and support people in areas affected by storms and floods. Practical spiritual and material assistance helps alleviate pain and loss, contributing to the rapid restoration of production and stabilization of people's lives in areas affected by storms, floods and natural disasters.

At the opening ceremony of the first Hanoi Ornamental Plants Festival in 2024, the Organizing Committee continued to organize donations and auctions of ornamental plants to call on artisans, businessmen, garden owners, organizations, individuals and ornamental plant lovers nationwide to continue joining hands to support people affected by storm No. 3.

Representatives of the Hanoi Party Committee and People's Committee, along with many bonsai associations, artisans, businessmen, garden owners, organizations, individuals... participated in donating and supporting people affected by storm No. 3.

The festival takes place from September 11-15 at the F1 Racetrack (Nam Tu Liem District) with many special activities. Specifically, the Hanoi Open Bonsai Competition 2024; displays the quintessence of Vietnamese bonsai with 1,014 typical bonsai works of art from provinces and cities across the country participating in the Festival, symbolizing 1,014 years of Thang Long - Hanoi, including 70 most outstanding works in the central area, symbolizing 70 years of Liberation of the Capital.
