Opening of the 3rd Danang Asian Film Festival

The 3rd Danang Asian Film Festival officially opened in Danang

Attending the ceremony were comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics; comrade Nguyen Van Hung, member of the Party Central Committee , Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

With the theme “DANAFF – Asian Bridge”, the 3rd Danang Asian Film Festival takes place from June 29 to July 5.

The event not only honors outstanding cinematographic works and artists, but also connects and spreads humanistic values and the creativity of Asian cinema to international friends.

DANAFF 3 is an affirmation of Da Nang's development orientation to become a new center of cultural creativity and film industry in Vietnam and the region.

Da Nang identifies cinema as not only an art, but also a driving force for economic development, a means of promoting the city's image, a bridge between people, a place to nurture and spread the values of truth, goodness and beauty.

Domestic and international stars hit the red carpet at the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival

Comrade Nguyen Van Hung, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, presented flowers to the jury members.

This year's film festival features more than 100 outstanding films from many cinemas in the Asia-Pacific region, a significant increase compared to 2024, reflecting the strong spread of DANAFF in the international film community.

Along with that are academic and specialized seminars and workshops to find solutions to develop the film industry in the context of an increasingly changing world.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, said that for a film festival to truly have vitality, it needs the support of the community, from artists, filmmakers, audiences, businesses to international organizations.

"We are extremely proud to welcome talented faces, artistic and creative works from all over the continent to gather, share and connect. Da Nang City will continue to promote investment, support and create the most favorable conditions for DANAFF to develop sustainably, professionally and with its own identity," the Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee emphasized.

At the opening ceremony, the DANAFF 3 Organizing Committee presented the Film Achievement Award to Korean director Im Kwon-Taek. This is the first award to appear at DANAFF in addition to the typical award categories such as the award for Asian Films (14 films), Vietnamese Films (12 films), NETPAC Award for Vietnamese Films and Audience Award for films in the program "Today's Vietnamese Cinema".
