Agribank officially honored in the Top 20 largest budget-paying enterprises in Vietnam by 2025
On September 9 in Hanoi, the "Top 200 Enterprises Contributing the Largest Budget in Vietnam in 2025" Award Ceremony was solemnly held. In this list, the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) was named in the Top 20, affirming its outstanding financial strength and pivotal role in stabilizing the macro economy .
The honor list is based on the PRIVATE 100 and VNTAX 200 systems, the only two rankings that comprehensively reflect the level of contribution of enterprises to the national budget. This is a system announced annually by CafeF, with a review process based on big data, public, transparent, recognized by many professional agencies. Therefore, the results are not only commendable but also a reliable measure of the financial health and social responsibility of enterprises.
Notably, the group of 20 leading enterprises contributes about 40% of the total national budget revenue. This figure shows the special stature of Agribank when together with the group of large enterprises, it plays a key role, creating a financial foundation for the State to implement policies on social security, health, education , infrastructure and international integration.
The composition of the Top 20 reflects diversity, from state-owned enterprises, private enterprises to foreign-invested enterprises (FDI). However, units with large financial scale and stable contributions for many years are still the pillars - including Agribank.
The group of 20 leading enterprises contributes about 40% of total national budget revenue.
According to the 2024 financial report, Agribank will achieve total assets of nearly VND 2.2 million billion, an increase of nearly 10% compared to 2023. Capital mobilized from the economy exceeds VND 2 million billion, an increase of 7.5%. Outstanding credit balance reaches about VND 1.72 million billion, an increase of 11%. Notably, more than 65% of outstanding credit balance is concentrated in the agricultural and rural sectors - considered the "backbone" of the economy. This affirms Agribank's pioneering position in developing "three rural areas" and accompanying the country's development.
Credit quality is well controlled with a bad debt ratio of 1.56%, aiming to bring it down to below 1% in 2025. Equity reached VND126 trillion, charter capital VND51.6 trillion, pre-tax profit VND27,567 billion, up 8% over the previous year. These figures show that Agribank is not only the largest state-owned commercial bank but also an enterprise that contributes stably and sustainably to the national budget.
The difference of Agribank lies in its mission: with more than 2,200 branches and transaction offices nationwide, the bank brings credit capital to remote areas, which are closely related to agricultural life. While many other banks focus on profits, Agribank chooses to combine business efficiency with political and social responsibility. Priority capital for "three agriculture" has supported millions of households, small businesses and cooperatives. Therefore, being in the Top 20 not only affirms financial capacity but also demonstrates the role of "extended arm" in implementing agricultural and rural development policies.
The fact that Agribank was honored also clearly shows the role of the "S - Social" pillar in ESG. Budget payments and preferential credit programs and community support have turned business results into practical and sustainable social values. Agribank's large contributions not only strengthen national resources for investment in health, education, and social security, but also come with preferential credit programs for poor households, ethnic minorities, and support activities when natural disasters and epidemics occur.
Being honored in the Top 20 also means affirming Agribank's leading position: the largest state-owned commercial bank, leading in terms of asset size, network, credit balance and pivotal role in macroeconomic stability. This achievement further motivates Agribank to promote innovation, digital transformation, towards a green and sustainable banking model. At the same time, this is also the bank's commitment to accompany the Government in socio-economic development and comprehensive community responsibility.
