Construction of Nu Village and Kho Vang Hamlet began after the historic flash flood.

On the morning of September 21, the People's Committee of Lao Cai province coordinated with functional units to start the reconstruction of the residential area of ​​Kho Vang village (Coc Lau commune, Bac Ha district). On the same afternoon, the local government also started the resettlement area of ​​Lang Nu village in Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction of Kho Vang Residential Area, Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee Trinh Xuan Truong emphasized that the locality is urgently overcoming the consequences of floods and stabilizing people's lives and production.

Lao Cai province is determined to complete a new village that is more beautiful and safer, creating the best conditions for people to settle down and build a new life.

According to local leaders, the reconstruction area has an area of ​​about 3.5 hectares, arranged for about 40 households to move in. Each apartment will have an area of ​​about 350 square meters with many auxiliary works to serve the people's lives.

In addition, to create the most convenient conditions for the people, the resettlement area construction site was consulted with the people and not far from the old residence, ensuring safety for the people of Kho Vang village.

Local authorities said that after the groundbreaking ceremony, construction units will focus on speeding up progress, organizing 3 shifts and 4 teams to complete the entire project by December 31, helping people have new housing.

On the same afternoon, local authorities coordinated with sponsors to organize the groundbreaking ceremony for the Nu Village resettlement area.

According to authorities, the new resettlement area was built about 2km from the flash flood site, with a construction scale of about 10 hectares in phase I, arranged about 1,000 square meters/household; 40 houses were built with 2 floors, designed in the traditional stilt house style of the Tay people.

In addition, the resettlement area will be built with cultural houses, schools, and infrastructure works (roads, electricity, water, etc.) to ensure stable and long-term living for people.

Right after a day of the terrible flash flood in Lang Nu village, on the afternoon of September 11, Dan Tri newspaper opened the code 240502 "Disaster in Lao Cai: The whole village was wiped out - Let's join hands to rebuild Lang Nu village".

On the morning of September 13, Dan Tri newspaper donated 2 billion VND to the Fatherland Front of Lao Cai province. This is the amount of money that Dan Tri readers helped rebuild Lang Nu village.

On September 14, Dan Tri newspaper announced the end of the emergency relief phase and the transition to the phase of receiving financial support for reconstruction. Specifically, the newspaper will join hands with people to rebuild houses, schools, and infrastructure, while implementing social projects, creating sustainable livelihoods, and helping people stabilize their lives.

On the morning of September 10, in Lang Nu (Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai province), a terrible flash flood occurred, leaving dozens of people dead and missing. Currently, the military and police forces are still actively searching for the remaining missing victims.

As of the afternoon of September 20, the death toll in the flash flood disaster in Lang Nu was 54, the number of injured was 16, of which 14 were being treated in the hospital.

Thirteen victims of the devastating flash flood are still missing.
