Prosecution of 9 subjects for organizing online football betting

On July 1, Lam Dong Provincial Police said that the Investigation Agency and Da Lat City Police had initiated a case and prosecuted 9 suspects related to the case of organizing gambling in the form of online football betting.

Previously, Lam Dong Provincial Police Department deployed professional measures; strengthened the prevention and fight against crimes and law violations related to gambling organization and gambling in the form of football betting during EURO 2024 and Copa America 2024. Through reconnaissance work, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (Lam Dong Provincial Police) discovered the activities of a group of suspects related to gambling and organizing gambling on the internet in Lam Dong province.

After a period of collecting documents and electronic data, using professional measures, on June 23, 2024, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention and Control coordinated with Da Lat City Police to catch C.D.T (born in 1976, residing in Ward 3, Da Lat City) red-handed while organizing gambling in the form of online soccer betting. Through the investigation and exploitation, T reported that his soccer betting organization account was issued by PTHV (born in 1982, residing in Ward 7, Da Lat City) and T directly issued subordinate accounts to 4 other subjects to organize soccer betting.

From the collected information, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention, in coordination with Da Lat City Police, simultaneously deployed many working groups to summon and work with 5 subjects related to the football betting line, namely PVQ (born in 1978, residing in Ward 12), PNBV (born in 1975, residing in Tram Hanh Commune), PTHV (born in 1982, residing in Ward 7), LVD (born in 1966, residing in Ward 1), all in Da Lat City, and D.CC (born in 1984, residing in Duc Trong District). Through investigation and exploitation, PTHV declared that his administrative account was directly managed by a subject named MLTB, born in 1981, residing in Xuan Tho Commune, Da Lat City.

Expanding the investigation, the authorities determined that C.D.T also organized direct betting with NQT (born in 1964, residing in Ward 4) and PNBV organized direct betting with PQV (born in 1974, residing in Tram Hanh commune), both in Da Lat city. The above subjects were all summoned and worked to clarify their behavior of participating in gambling in the form of football betting.

During the investigation, the suspects admitted to organizing gambling and betting on football with a transaction value of more than 16 billion VND within a month. The police seized many exhibits including more than 354 million VND in cash, 9 mobile phones of various types, 2 laptops of various types, and a desktop computer. Da Lat City Police have initiated a case, prosecuted 9 suspects, and are continuing to expand the investigation and clarify other related subjects.
