Lai Chau: Nearly 150,000 students enter the new school year 2025 - 2026

On the morning of September 5, the education sector of Lai Chau province held the opening ceremony of the new school year 2025-2026, with nearly 150,000 students of all levels across the province. At many schools, provincial leaders, leaders of provincial departments and branches came to congratulate and encourage teachers and students to enter the new school year with many achievements in teaching and learning.

The opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 school year, associated with the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Ministry of National Education (now the Ministry of Education and Training ), was organized by the Ministry of Education and Training at the National Convention Center and broadcast live on VTV1 (Vietnam Television), connecting online with educational and training institutions nationwide with the participation of about 1.7 million teachers and nearly 30 million students nationwide.

In Lai Chau , Doan Ket Secondary School connected online with the National Convention Center; other schools in the province watched live on VTV1 channel. After connecting and watching the program from the National Convention Center, schools in Lai Chau province held the Opening Ceremony of the 2025 - 2026 school year with many practical and meaningful activities.

According to information from the Department of Education and Training of Lai Chau province, in the 2024 - 2025 school year with the theme "Innovation, quality improvement, solidarity, discipline", the Education and Training sector has achieved many positive results.

The whole province has 336 schools (1 school less than the same period last year); 5,182 classes (128 less than the same period last year) with a total of 149,461 students; 228/327 schools meet national standards, reaching 69.7%. The whole sector has 11,390 managers, teachers and staff. The rate of managers and teachers meeting and exceeding standards is 94.7%.

The quality of mass education remains stable and improves. 100% of children attending school receive meals, receive regular health check-ups, and have their nutritional status assessed using growth charts. The percentage of primary school students classified as Complete or higher is 99.73% (up 0.04% compared to the previous year). The percentage of secondary school students classified as Achieved or higher is 97.98% (up 0.28% compared to the previous year).

The rate of high school students with academic results of Pass or higher reached 99.32% (an increase of 0.21% compared to the previous year). The rate of continuing education students with academic results of Pass or higher reached 98.63% (an increase of 5.79% compared to the same period last year).

Performance at Doan Ket Secondary School

The quality of key education is focused on; 3 projects participated in and won prizes in the National Science and Technology Competition; 701 students won prizes in the provincial competition for excellent students; 17 students won prizes (1 second prize, 3 third prizes, 13 consolation prizes) in the National competition for excellent students.

In the 2025-2026 school year, Lai Chau province will have 336 schools with nearly 150,000 students.
