Actress Lan Phuong felt sorry for herself when her husband was working far away, and she had to take care of her newborn daughter alone five days after her cesarean section.
The artist talks about changes in life and the joy of welcoming a daughter - baby Mia.
- After one month of giving birth to your second child, how is your health now?
- The health of both mother and child is stable, but like many other mothers, I still face difficulties in the postpartum recovery process. Compared to the first cesarean section, I was in much more pain. The first day, I did not use painkillers because I was afraid of side effects. In the following days, I had to take more medicine to be able to sit up to breastfeed. Sometimes, I felt hot as if I had a fever, and fainted from aches and pains.
I have little breast milk but I want to feed my baby completely naturally so I have to breastfeed him more and more, evenly on both breasts. My baby has not latched on well and has a bad bite, so both mother and baby are having a hard time. Up to now, my incision is still swollen and painful, making it difficult for me to move. I also have to limit walking, laughing loudly, and even sneezing and having a runny nose, because when my nose and stomach shake, it hurts like hell.

- What was your biggest difficulty when becoming a mother for the second time?
- When I was seven months pregnant, my husband moved to Da Nang for work. At that time, my body was very heavy, and the business was very busy. Sometimes, I felt helpless because I could not concentrate, could not think much, could not closely follow the restaurant's management. Pains all over my body often came. All of this made me cry, but I had to cry softly so that my mother and child could not hear.
When Mia was born, my husband could only be with me for five days before he had to return to work. My mother helped take care of my older daughter, so I tried to take care of the little one myself. At night, I changed diapers and breastfed her myself, so my mother could sleep deeply. I told myself to try to be strong every day to have the health and spirit to take care of my children. I wanted the two babies, especially my older daughter, to feel secure.
- How does your husband encourage you?
- Whenever he has work to do, he will fly out to take care of the three of us. He spends time playing with his eldest daughter, talking to her about everything, trying to make her not feel sad when her parents focus on her. At night, he helps me with everything.
My husband is quiet, often expressing himself through actions, but sometimes he is quite sweet. When he had his second child, he whispered: "So our family is complete." Once, he posted about his wife and child on his personal page, saying: "Phuong has shown great strength throughout this journey and I am very proud of her." After reading it, I burst into tears because I felt like my hardships and efforts were recognized. His thoughtfulness and understanding soothed the sadness I had experienced.
When the baby was 17 days old, I took him to Da Nang to reunite with my husband. On the plane, my father-in-law supported me so I had no trouble.

- How does your six-year-old daughter Lina take having a sibling?
- My child is very understanding, loves his younger sibling, and sympathizes with his parents. When he wakes up in the morning and goes to school, he runs to hug and kiss his younger sibling. One day, when he sees that I am not too tired, he whispers: "Mom, please read a book with me." Then he hugs my leg and says: "I just want you to hug me when I sleep." I pat and scratch his back for a while. He is now an older sister, so I cannot spend as much time with him as before, so I love him very much. There are more members in the family, more pressure, I am learning how to divide time between the two children, getting used to everything.
- What are your plans for the future?
- I try to balance my family life, because my husband is in Da Nang, and I am still in Hanoi because I am busy with many jobs. I have temporarily handed over the restaurant business to the manager. Right now, I just wish everything goes back to normal, I hope the baby is healthy. I also hope my body recovers soon so I can return to filming. I really miss the busy days on set.
