On October 2, Emulation Cluster No. 4, a group of units under the Ministry of Public Security, including: Department of Environmental Crime Prevention and Control; Office of the Investigation Police Agency (IPA); Department of Investigation Police on Social Order Crimes; Department of Investigation Police on Corruption, Economic Crimes, and Smuggling; Department of Investigation Police on Drug Crimes and the Mobile Police Command organized the launching ceremony of the movement "Defeat Plastic Pollution" at Nguyen Viet Xuan Primary School (Hanoi).

Speaking at the launching ceremony, on behalf of the cluster leader, Colonel Tran Viet Phuong, Deputy Director of the Environmental Crime Prevention Police Department, said that Vietnam generates about 3.5 million tons of plastic waste each year, but only 33% of it is recycled. According to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), up to 65% of plastic waste is at risk of leaking into the natural environment, seriously affecting soil, water, air and public health. If timely action is not taken, today's young generation will be the ones to suffer the most severe consequences.

Plastic pollution comes from everyday objects and activities, such as disposable straws, plastic bags... microplastics from these products will then seep into the soil, water, air... From that reality, Colonel Tran Viet Phuong called on each student to become a "young environmental warrior" with specific actions such as: Say no to plastic bottles and disposable plastic bags, classify trash in class and at home, become a "green ambassador" to spread the green message to relatives and the community.

Ms. Vu Thi Anh Tuyet, Principal of Nguyen Viet Xuan Primary School, affirmed that the school is very interested in environmental protection as well as promoting environmental awareness education for students integrated into teaching and collective activities. Not only promoting environmental awareness, but the school also directly organizes for students to make many recycled products from plastic displayed at the school's exhibition hall and for the children to use as toys and learning tools that are very useful in life.

Through today's meaningful launching ceremony, the school will continue to strongly and creatively implement the movement to defeat plastic pollution; promote the movement to say no to disposable plastic bottles and turn waste classification into a daily habit of every student, staff, teacher and employee of the school.
According to the Department of Environmental Crime Prevention, the event was launched to respond to the campaign "Make the world cleaner", while contributing to propaganda, popularization of laws, and raising public awareness of environmental protection. The movement focuses on propagating the harmful effects of plastic waste and encouraging reduction, reuse, and recycling in schools. Specific activities include collecting, sorting waste at source, processing, and properly transporting plastic items, packaging, and nylon bags... to build a green, clean, and beautiful school environment.
Through the ceremony, the Ministry of Public Security also wants to emphasize that environmental protection is not only the responsibility of the authorities but also the common duty of the whole society. The cooperation of teachers, parents and authorities will turn each schoolyard into a "green classroom", nurturing awareness of environmental action. The movement "Defeat plastic pollution" therefore becomes a call for the community to turn responsibility into a habit, so that each generation can join hands to build a green - clean - beautiful and sustainable Vietnam.
