Construction launch ceremony of the Day River bridge project connecting Ninh Binh and Nam Dinh provinces

On the morning of September 29, the People's Committee of Nam Dinh province held a ceremony to launch the construction of the Day River overpass project connecting Ninh Binh and Nam Dinh provinces, part of the Ninh Binh - Nam Dinh - Thai Binh - Hai Phong expressway.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Pham Gia Tuc, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Nam Dinh Provincial Party Committee; Le Dinh Tho, Deputy Minister of Transport; Le Quoc Chinh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Nam Dinh province; Pham Dinh Nghi, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Nam Dinh Provincial People's Committee.

On the side of Ninh Binh province, there were comrade Nguyen Cao Son, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of a number of departments, branches and Yen Khanh district.

The project to build a bridge over the Day River connecting Ninh Binh province and Nam Dinh province on the Ninh Binh - Nam Dinh - Thai Binh - Hai Phong expressway is implemented according to Decision No. 17/2022 dated July 28, 2022 of the Prime Minister on decentralization of implementation of projects and component projects to invest in expressway sections in the form of public investment under the Socio-economic Recovery and Development Program.

The project is invested by the Nam Dinh Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board. The total investment is 1,450 billion VND. The route length is 2 km, passing through 2 communes Khanh Cuong, Khanh Trung (Yen Khanh district) and 3 communes Nghia Chau, Nghia Trung, Nghia Thai (Nghia Hung district, Nam Dinh).

The project has a scale of 4 lanes, designed speed of 100 km. On the Ninh Binh side, the bridge connects to Bai Dinh - Kim Son road by 2 branches with a 12m wide roadbed; on the Nam Dinh side, the overpass is at different levels with National Highway 37B and at different levels connecting to Provincial Road 490, connected by 2 branches with a 8m wide roadbed.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Nam Dinh Provincial People's Committee Pham Dinh Nghi sincerely thanked the Central Ministries, branches and Ninh Binh province for their attention, support and facilitation for Nam Dinh province in the process of project implementation.

In order for the project to be implemented on schedule and ensure quality, he also hopes that Ninh Binh province, especially Yen Khanh district, will continue to pay attention and closely coordinate with the investor to synchronously carry out site clearance and related procedures during the project implementation process.

Nam Dinh province will continue to focus on propaganda, mobilization and explanation to help people understand the benefits of the project. Thereby, supporting and agreeing on the site clearance work, ensuring the project's progress.

Directing departments, branches, sectors and localities to do well the assigned work. Immediately after the construction begins, the contractor will be directed to focus on mobilizing all resources, materials and equipment, and have appropriate construction organization measures to ensure quality, progress and safety.

The Day River overpass construction project is of great significance, contributing to connecting the vital traffic routes of the two provinces of Ninh Binh and Nam Dinh, gradually completing the expressway from Ninh Binh to Hai Phong, enhancing intra-regional and inter-regional connectivity in the Red River Delta.

From there, it will reduce the load on the existing transportation system, shorten the time and cost of traveling from the southern region of the three provinces of Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh to Hai Phong and vice versa. At the same time, it will be a driving force to attract investment, attract human resources, create jobs for workers, and create conditions for the economy of Ninh Binh and the region to develop.

At the ceremony, together with the Central and Nam Dinh provincial delegates, Mr. Nguyen Cao Son, Vice Chairman of Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee, performed the project implementation ceremony. The project is expected to be completed in December 2024.
