On October 27, Mr. Vu Hong Lich, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ward 2, Tan An City, Long An Province, said that he had reported to the competent authority to verify the identity of an abandoned newborn baby boy that a woman reported to the ward.
According to the report of Ms. Ly Thi Kim Tuyen, 38 years old, residing in My Phu commune, Thu Thua district, Long An province, at about 9:00 a.m. on October 25, while sitting at a tea shop in front of gate 1, Long An bus station, Ward 2, a woman about 25 years old asked her to hold a baby boy a few months old to go to the toilet.

Ms. Tuyen agreed and waited for more than 30 minutes but the woman did not return. She took the baby to look around but could not find him. After that, she took the boy to the Ward 2 Police Station to report the incident.
According to Ms. Tuyen, in addition to the baby boy, the woman also left behind a nylon bag containing diapers, milk, clothes, a thermos and baby items, but there were no identification documents.
After receiving the information, the authorities verified but still could not determine information about the boy.
With Ms. Tuyen's consent, Ward 2 People's Committee has temporarily entrusted the boy to her care for 7 days pending verification. Ms. Tuyen commits to take good care of the baby, not to take advantage of the incident to call for charity against regulations and not to post information on social networks.
At the same time, she pledged to return the baby to the family when found, or to the authorities when requested, without asking for any other benefits.
