Patriotism always flows in the veins of the young generation.

Are today’s youth as insensitive and indifferent to history as many people have feared? The answer is no! Because they are expressing their patriotism in their own way, with identity, personality, emotion and sincerity.

The patriotism of Vietnamese people is nurtured in the blood.
Vietnamese patriotism is nurtured in the blood.

A foreign reporter wrote this during his visit to Vietnam: Perhaps in this world there is hardly any nation that loves its national flag more than the Vietnamese people... I have worked all over the world, but when I came to Vietnam I was truly overwhelmed by the people here.

Tet - flags are hung everywhere in Vietnam, on National Day, on the reunification day of April 30, on traditional local festivals, on welcoming the football team after each tournament or match..., everywhere you see the red flag with the yellow star, everywhere you see the radiant faces of joy, not to mention the youth but also the elderly and children.

I once walked through the sea of people and flags in the sleepless nights of Hanoi , and I realized that in this country there is an extremely great national spirit, that spirit cannot be spontaneous, cannot only exist for a few hundred years, that spirit has certainly existed in every person in this nation for thousands of years, so it can be absorbed... like a traditional culture inherited from generation to generation.

That is a spirit of solidarity, the people only use the event to hold the flag, use the excuse to hold the flag, to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of solidarity of millions of people as one. Perhaps that is why this nation was able to drive all the most powerful foreign invaders out of the country.

The writer of this article had to borrow the idea of a foreign reporter to introduce the story not for the sake of objectivity or to soften the political language. Simply, what the foreign reporter shared was correct but not enough. Because the red flag with yellow star was also colored by the sweat, blood and sacrifice of many successive generations on this S-shaped strip of land.

Today, no one will be surprised to see millions of Vietnamese youth wearing red shirts with the shape of the national flag, side by side singing proud melodies, shouting the two words Vietnam from their veins. The patriotism of this country has therefore never faded, unchanged over time in the hearts of every Vietnamese citizen. They have only been thickened and brightened over time, by the extremely painful losses in the past.

The young generation will grow up in peace, knowing how to love the country voluntarily, and defining a political attitude with its own identity and style of a Vietnamese citizen. It is not only creative images on social platforms, through clips with heroic music. It is also a young generation that knows how to accompany the nation's renewal destiny, knows how to share responsibility for the country with the knowledge and enthusiasm of youth.

History must be conveyed through vivid visual lessons.
History needs to be conveyed through vivid visual lessons.

In recent days, when the movie “Red Rain”, a movie by female director Dang Thai Huyen adapted from the novel of the same name by writer Chu Lai, is becoming a box office phenomenon, creating records for the highest and fastest revenue in the genre of movies about revolutionary war. This makes many people wonder.

Or like before, the films "Peach, Pho and Piano" by director Phi Tien Son; "Tunnel" by director Bui Thac Chuyen created a fever and the musical works "Continuing the story of peace" by musician Nguyen Van Chung; "The road to the front" by musician Tien Minh... appeared all over the platforms Zalo, TikTok, Facebook, Youtube... were received by young people with passion and excitement.

This is not at all a trend or, as the language of the youth says, a trend. This is simply a youth approach to history, close, genuine and touching the emotions of the heart.

For a long time, the instilling of patriotism in young people has faced many challenges, because of the approach to history through dogmatic, formal lectures. This, like a generational gap, makes it difficult for the young generation, especially the 2K generation, Genz, to understand and not clearly feel the sacrifices and losses of the previous generation. The explosive development of technology in a flat world, as well as the art of depicting true emotions from historical realities, has been enthusiastically received by young people. It is these messages that have ignited the flame of patriotism in young people that is still smoldering. The bridge between the past and the present conveyed through the language of art has aroused the empathy and pride of the generation, not the lessons learned by heart.

The images of soldiers in the 81 days and nights of fire in the ancient citadel of Quang Tri in “Red Rain” are like a vivid visual lesson that helps the younger generation better understand the value of peace and independence. Along with that, the heartbreaking lyrics in the song “Pain in Peace”, the official song of the film such as: “The mother searches for her child amidst the cheers of the nation. The wife searches for her husband amidst the crowd. Peace has come, why hasn’t he returned yet? Amidst the laughter, the mother sheds tears... Only the dove sends back the green of her shirt... joy for the country and pain for herself”, will certainly make the younger generation grow up to appreciate more the sacrifice and loss.

Today’s youth are not indifferent to history, patriotism has never faded. As long as those things are awakened emotionally, have a direct impact, surely that love will rise and leave a mark in the consciousness of each person that no book or lecture can do.

History is past events, but do not be irresponsible or simply print them into books and put them on a shelf somewhere in the library. The history of building and defending the country of our country is a heroic history, full of sacrifices and losses, we are not allowed to forget that. To make the young generation always appreciate and be grateful for the efforts of their ancestors, we cannot help but make those pages of history come alive. A modern young generation, accustomed to clicking the mouse or swiping the screen of a smartphone, certainly does not choose to approach history by sitting for hours in the library.

In any form, history must be conveyed vividly, not with one-sided embellishment or blackening, but with the truth. It is the truth that will help young people realize the value of patriotism.

The young generation of Vietnam loves the country in its own way and has its own identity.
The young generation of Vietnam loves the country in its own way and has its own identity.

The ideals, courage and sacrifices of many generations of fathers and grandfathers are helping the young generation of Vietnam to live more responsibly towards themselves, their families and their country. The sweat, tears and blood of many people have helped them appreciate the value of peace more and urged them to make efforts to preserve that precious thing.
