The reason why Russian tourists to Khanh Hoa increased by nearly 300%

(Dan Tri) - The reopening of direct flights from major cities in Russia directly to Cam Ranh has helped the number of tourists to Khanh Hoa province increase by nearly 300%.

On September 24, Mr. Cung Quynh Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province, said that in the first 8 months of the year, the province welcomed 279,000 Russian visitors, an increase of nearly 300% over the same period in 2024.

According to Mr. Quynh Anh, the reason for the sudden increase in Russian tourists to Khanh Hoa is because in March, commercial flights from Russia directly to Khanh Hoa were reopened.

“The demand for tourism from Russian tourists is very high, and the reopening of direct flights from Russia to Khanh Hoa has boosted the number of tourists from this country to the province,” said the Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province.

According to the leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province, there are currently nearly 30 flights per week from Russian cities to Cam Ranh airport (Khanh Hoa).

In previous years, Russia was a traditional tourist market for Khanh Hoa tourism. However, due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic as well as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, flights from Russia to Khanh Hoa were suspended for a long time.

From 2020 to early March this year, Russian tourists who wanted to travel to Khanh Hoa province had to "hitchhike" through a number of countries and territories. Therefore, the number of Russian tourists to this locality decreased sharply.

According to the leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province, the restoration of the flight route from Moscow (Russia) to Khanh Hoa not only shortens travel time but also reduces airfare costs, creating favorable conditions to promote the growth of the Russian tourist market to Khanh Hoa; contributing to promoting trade and bilateral cooperation between Russia and Vietnam.
