Sweet milk tea from teacher Anh Vien

Since she was an athlete, Nguyen Thi Anh Vien has always been troubled and lost sleep when reading news about children dying from drowning. The swimmer from Can Tho has never stopped worrying about how to help more people learn to swim, especially children. Therefore, after retiring, the "little mermaid" founded a swimming club with the desire to spread the love of swimming to everyone.

Anh Vien pays special attention to children. She revealed that she really likes children, so teaching swimming is also very convenient. "When I instruct and interact with children, I see that they are very simple. If they swim well, they are happy and smile, but if they don't swim well, they are sad. That's why I find myself happier every day," Anh Vien confided.

Anh Vien's love for children is not only shown in her gentle, attentive instruction in swimming techniques. The swimmer from Can Tho also has a very special way of showing her concern for young students. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Xuan (43 years old - whose child studies at Anh Vien Club), thanks to teacher Anh Vien, her child likes to learn to swim more, there is a change in personality and living habits have also changed.

"Sometimes, my child excitedly comes home to show off to her mother that Ms. Anh Vien just bought her milk tea. On holidays or anniversaries, Ms. Anh Vien often organizes to take the children out to eat ice cream, drink milk tea, and give out gifts. For example, on March 8, instead of the children giving her gifts, she treats them to milk tea. As children, all children like to have their teacher buy them cakes and snacks. I think these are things that make children more excited and motivated to go to swimming lessons," said Ms. Xuan.

Although Anh Vien's actions are small, they are full of love and make the children love their teacher more. The ice cream and milk tea from Anh Vien's own hands, although not materially significant, when placed at the right time and place, become very sweet to the children (spiritually). From there, the former swimmer received the trust of parents, helping to teach children to swim much more easily, when the children were comfortable and felt confident in their teacher.

Ms. Xuan said that at first, although her son knew how to swim, he did not really love this sport. Therefore, on days when he was tired or lazy, he would find excuses to "hide". But since he moved to Anh Vien's club, thanks to the teachers' encouragement and support, Ms. Xuan's son has gradually become more interested in swimming. "Before, every time it was time to go to swimming class, he would make excuses, but now he automatically prepares his swimsuit to go to school. He prepares his own uniform without needing to be reminded and goes swimming in a happy mood, not like he is forced," Ms. Xuan said.

After nearly a year of swimming lessons at Anh Vien's club, Ms. Xuan's son is currently in the gifted class. What Ms. Xuan hopes for when studying here is that her son will be guided by the right techniques by the teachers. She boasted: "Currently, my son swims very well. However, I do not intend for my son to become a professional swimmer even though Ms. Anh Vien commented that he has talent. After letting my son study here, I see that the teachers really love their students. There is no need to say much about skills, with Ms. Anh Vien, there is no need to discuss. I see that my son has made obvious progress. The teachers are young so they are very enthusiastic with the children and know how to follow each child's psychology."

The coaches of Anh Vien Swimming Club are all very dedicated to the children.

Ms. Xuan added: "Swimming is also a necessary skill for children to keep themselves safe in the future. Because drowning cases happen a lot nowadays, I am quite worried. Later, when children grow up, they can go out with friends, or in a certain situation if an accident happens, they will know how to handle it. Soft skills are very important, especially swimming. Because when they know how to swim, they can not only help themselves but also help others, save others but must ensure their own safety."
