Honey, ginger, ivy, and thyme can reduce coughs, help control symptoms, and speed recovery.
The body responds to irritants by coughing to clear the airways. However, a severe, productive, and prolonged cough can cause fatigue and affect work and life. Coughs often go away on their own without treatment. Some of the natural remedies below may help improve symptoms.
Honey: Drinking one or two teaspoons of honey mixed with warm water can reduce mucus production and kill germs. Honey can cause poisoning in infants, so adults should not give it to children under one year old. Drinking warm honey before bed soothes the throat, reduces nighttime coughs, and improves sleep.
Herbs : Mixing herbs such as ivy, thyme, and basil into syrup or warm water can help reduce coughs. Patients can also use herbal lozenges, about 2-3 times a day, to increase saliva production and soothe coughs.

Mix a teaspoon of salt with 230 ml of warm water, hold it in your mouth and tilt your head back, gargle and spit out the mixture.
Ginger: Contains many compounds such as b-zingiberene, b-farnesen, b-curcumenene, essential oils, geraniol, linalool, borneol. They can help relax the muscles that tighten the airways, reducing cough. Eating raw ginger, adding it to dishes or mixing it with warm water and adding a little honey to the drink are all beneficial.
