Microsoft announced in 2023 that it would stop offering this security shield in Windows 11 without much explanation. By the end of last year, these features were no longer supported, although they still worked on systems that had them installed. But now, that's all coming to an end.

Microsoft has announced that the Chrome and Edge extensions for this shield will be the first to be discontinued. However, this extension will not work with Manifest V3, the new version of the extension permissions and operation guide tool in Chrome. This means that when V3 is rolled out, the Microsoft Defender Application Guard extension will be completely disabled.
