According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the highest temperature on August 2 in Hanoi could reach 36°C, while humidity will decrease, making the feeling of heat and burning increase significantly.
This situation is mainly due to the strong re-development of the hot low pressure area in the West, combined with the southwest wind effect passing over the Truong Son range, increasing the heat and drying the air when it falls on the plains and midlands of the North. At the same time, the low cloud cover, strong solar radiation and the urban heat island effect make the air even more stuffy, especially in big cities like Hanoi.
Meteorological forecasters say that Hanoi's temperature in the morning is 26-28 degrees Celsius, but by noon and afternoon it will jump to 35-36 degrees Celsius, an increase of nearly 10 degrees within 24 hours.
Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, Head of Weather Forecasting Department (National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting) said that from August 2 to 4, the hot and humid weather will continue, then from about August 5 or 6, there is a possibility of showers appearing again. Weather forecasts from platforms such as AccuWeather, Windy... also recorded a trend of rapid temperature increase during this period.
Meanwhile, in the northern mountainous areas, the effects of previous heavy rains have not yet completely ended. Due to steep terrain and weak soil after prolonged rain, the risk of flash floods and landslides remains high. The meteorological agency warned that mountainous localities such as Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La, Lao Cai, Ha Giang , etc. need to proactively take preventive measures and closely monitor the weather to ensure the safety of people and infrastructure.
Meteorological experts advise people in the delta to increase sun protection measures, stay healthy in hot and humid conditions, and limit outdoor activities during peak hours (from 11am to 3pm). At the same time, people in mountainous areas should pay special attention not to travel or live near landslide-prone areas in the coming days.
