Speaking at the program, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Pham Van Thuy emphasized that tourism is becoming a bright spot in the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and India.

Vietnam has been attracting a large number of visitors from the Indian market: 392,000 arrivals in 2023, 507,000 arrivals in 2024, and 443,000 arrivals in the first 8 months of this year alone, an increase of 42.2% over the same period last year.

Mr. Thuy affirmed that, in addition to the attractive landscape and culture, Vietnam has implemented many favorable policies for Indian tourists such as e-visa with a stay of up to 90 days, a safe and friendly tourism environment and an increasingly expanding aviation network directly connecting major cities.

At the event, solutions to enhance tourism development were also proposed. In particular, the key solution emphasized was to expand the network of direct flights and develop specialized tourism products, thereby making tourism a key area of cooperation in Vietnam - India relations.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai - Vietnamese Ambassador to India - said that the opening of direct flights between Vietnam and India by Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air since May has promptly exploited the huge potential of the tourism markets in the two countries.

He said that the Indian middle class is growing rapidly, with a high demand for international travel, in which Vietnam is considered suitable for many types of tourism such as weddings, resorts, MICE (tourism combined with conferences), adventure or spirituality.

According to Mr. Hai, to attract more tourists, it is necessary to open more direct flights between many major cities of the two countries, at the same time increase tourism cooperation, design specialized products for Indian guests such as weddings, conferences, and high-end resorts.

Another approach is to encourage and facilitate Indian filmmakers to film in Vietnam, in order to promote Vietnamese landscapes to the Indian public.

According to information from the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, currently, air connectivity between Vietnam and India is very convenient with about 100 direct flights, while Vietnam's infrastructure and tourism services are increasingly appreciated by the Indian market.

Notably, many Indian restaurants have appeared in Hanoi , Ha Long, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Hoi An, Ho Chi Minh City... bringing familiarity to tourists and contributing to increasing the attractiveness of the destination.

In addition, at the program, visitors can also enjoy traditional Vietnamese art performances, creating a cultural bridge between the two countries.

With positive results, the program has contributed to expanding bilateral tourism cooperation, promoting visitor exchange and opening up prospects for long-term investment cooperation between the two countries.
