According to Neowin , dubbed CLAW, this MSI handheld device will be one of the most powerful gaming devices on the market when it launches. This comes from the power of Intel's Core Ultra 7 155H CPU, a 16-core/22-thread chip with 6 high-performance cores, 8 mid-performance cores, and 2 energy-saving cores. Graphics will be handled by the Arc Alchemist GPU with 8 Xe cores that can be clocked up to 2.25 GHz.
Initial leaks also revealed CLAW benchmark performance showing a single-core score of 2403 and a multi-core score of 11543. This also suggests that CLAW's integrated Intel Arc graphics are capable of outperforming AMD's RDNA3 found in competing handheld gaming devices, which is good news for Intel as it looks to break into the mobile gaming space.
Other leaks confirm that the CLAW will have 32GB of RAM, which is double the memory of devices like the AYN Odin Pro and Steam Deck, but MSI could offer different RAM configurations to suit users' budgets and needs.
The biggest question mark for the MSI CLAW is its operating system. It could follow in the footsteps of Asus and Lenovo by running Windows 11, or it could run a Linux-based operating system like Steam Deck.
Meanwhile, MSI has given a glimpse of its upcoming portable gaming PC via social media, promising to expand the company's gaming portfolio beyond laptops. The short clip shows off two offset joysticks surrounded by RGB lighting, vents on the sides, and the company's gaming logo on the back.
