Author Trinh Bich Ngan remembers her deceased mother, but it seems that her mother is still alive thanks to the invisible wave of blood love connecting the two worlds of life and death: Even though parents/ are on the other side of the sky/ separated/ the waves of life and death/ still beat rhythmically/ with love. Author Le Thieu Nhon remembers his mother as the door of a house that never closes, waiting for her child to return, the warmest and safest place: That door withstands all slander and uncertainty/ Because it has a mother's heart as the final barrier.
The seventh lunar month of every year is also the Vu Lan season for children to show their gratitude. SGGP newspaper introduces the poem Yin and Yang Waves by author Trinh Bich Ngan and The Door That Doesn't Close by Le Thieu Nhon.
Yin and Yang waves
First birthday
no mother in the world
I am alone
sit and cry
***
Drop drop
orphaned
quietly
heartbroken
***
In front of me
steaming cup of cappuccino
sedum flower in bloom
Xuan Huong Lake's surface throbs with breath
church in the cold fog the bells
***
Life expectancy
and age
sea waves
bustling dawn
rolling sunset
***
Even though parents
the other side of the sky
distance
yin and yang waves
still beating
love

TRINH BICH NGAN

The door is not closed
I return to that door
Through many stormy seasons the wind goes away
The door is never closed
Like a mother's heart opening up day by day
***
I keep dreaming of the shores
When life bullies you
Back behind that door
***
And the baby slept soundly
And I dream so peacefully
That door protects against all unforeseen circumstances.
Because there is a mother's heart as the final barrier.
LE THIEU NHON
