Warm spring of a couple 12 years 'looking for a child'

For more than a decade, Phung Thi Lien and Nguyen Hoang Trung, their small family, have been through all the hardships. And this spring, they welcomed two little angels, the result of 12 years of waiting.

Challenges on the journey of "finding a child"

Ms. Phung Thi Lien (1990) and Mr. Nguyen Hoang Trung (1984) in Son Tay, Hanoi , got married in 2011, full of hope and dreams of a complete home.

In the early days of marriage, Ms. Lien did not put much emphasis on having children, because she believed that happiness would come at the right time. However, time passed, year after year, and the desire to hear the voices of children in the small house still did not come true.

Addresses of traditional medicine and good doctors have become the stops of the couple. Lien and her husband are ready to set off when someone tells them, carrying with them the hope and belief that a miracle will come. However, despite all their efforts, that miracle has not appeared yet.

Seeing that Eastern medicine was ineffective, in 2017, they decided to seek Western medicine in the hope of soon realizing their dream of becoming parents.

At the hospital, the examination results showed that Mr. Trung had weak sperm, and the doctor advised the couple to consider in vitro fertilization (IVF).

However, despite choosing the most modern and advanced path, it seems that luck has not yet knocked on the door. After two unsuccessful embryo transfers, all dreams have returned to zero.

Finances are always a difficult problem for the family. Ms. Lien works as a worker, her salary is only enough to cover daily expenses, while Mr. Trung works as a freelancer, so his income is quite unstable.

No matter how much they earned, they saved it all, even had to borrow more with only one hope, to welcome their child soon.

With unwavering faith and a strong desire to become parents, in 2020, they decided to go to another hospital to continue their IVF journey.

At this time, the couple had taken good care of their health, preparing themselves mentally for the hopeful embryo transfer. However, despite their best efforts, the results were still not as expected.

During the 9 years of searching for a child, Lien and her husband have gone through many ups and downs, tried both Eastern and Western medicine, from hope to disappointment. However, the couple is determined to one day hold their baby in their arms.

"I always think 'mud is under my feet but sunshine is above my head'. If I open my eyes in the morning and see the sun, life will still bloom for me. Hope is still ahead, no matter how difficult it is, I am determined to go to the end of the journey to pick up my child," Lien confided.

Happy after 12 years of waiting

After many long months, they paused for a while, focused on working and saving with the hope of continuing their unfinished journey. In 2023, the couple went to the Hanoi Andrology and Infertility Hospital for a check-up.

The process of egg stimulation and egg retrieval went smoothly. On the day of the embryo announcement, the most memorable moment was when the doctor announced that they had 5 embryos on day 5.

Right at the hospital, Lien and her husband could not hold back their tears of happiness.

In May 2023, Ms. Lien transferred the embryo for the first time at the hospital. Her heart was filled with emotions, both excitement and prayers for everything to go smoothly. But despite their efforts, luck still did not smile on them.

However, that failure did not discourage her. She decided to rest, spend about half a year taking care of herself and preparing better before boldly continuing on her journey to find a child.

At the end of 2023, Ms. Lien continued to transfer embryos for the second time. The days of waiting after the embryo transfer were a time full of excitement, anxiety and anticipation for her.

Each passing day, she not only counts time by hours, but every minute is wrapped in a burning wish that a miracle will come to her family.

When the pregnancy test showed two lines, Ms. Lien was surprised and could not believe her eyes. A series of questions appeared in her head: "Is it true? Could it be a mistake?"

Those doubts were only truly dispelled on the 14th day after embryo transfer, when she went to the hospital for a beta HCG test, the official result confirmed that she was pregnant.

Happiness doubled when the doctor announced during the first ultrasound that she was carrying two little angels.

On August 12, 2024, the most special moment finally arrived. Ms. Lien entered the delivery room with the company of her family members, all waiting anxiously.

When the first cries of the two babies Nguyen Ngoc Minh Anh and Nguyen Ngoc Minh Anh were heard, they brought with them overflowing happiness, making the whole family burst into emotions.

This year, for Lien's family, everything has changed. The moment when they welcomed the New Year with their children for the first time in their lives is a happiness that 12 years ago seemed like it would forever be just a distant dream.

Looking at the two little children chattering beside the peach blossoms, all the hardships of the years of waiting seemed to disappear. Tet became warmer when the small family had a new member, the crystallization of the love that the couple had spent many months to have.
