According to documents, in 1962, agricultural engineer Luong Van Sau brought this flower variety from Europe to plant in Da Lat city. He was the one who nurtured and planted the first purple phoenix trees in this city. From the original purple poinciana tree, after 62 years, this tree has taken root and grown well in the city of thousands of flowers. This tree is now very popular on many roads in the inner city and suburbs of Da Lat, becoming a typical symbol of the "capital" Lam Dong. This variety is easier to grow, grows better and blooms more. Mr. Dinh Van Bien, a photographer in Da Lat city, said that after the cherry blossom season comes the purple phoenix flower season. Purple phoenix flowers usually bloom from March to April every year, creating successive flower seasons for Lam Dong. "Purple royal poinciana flowers are blooming, giving Xuan Huong Lake, Tran Khanh Du Street, and Da Lat night market a dreamy, romantic beauty. With their distinctive flower colors, purple royal poinciana flowers have become a highlight of Da Lat, attracting the attention of many tourists visiting this city," said Mr. Dinh Van Bien. The Royal Poinciana is a large tree, 10-15m tall, with a canopy of about 5-7m, and leaves shaped like royal poinciana.
