More than 7,000 Dien grapefruits of Mr. Le Khac Truong's family (Phu Gia commune, Huong Khe, Ha Tinh ) have ripened to a golden yellow color, ready to be sold at the Tet market.
In 2015, Mr. Le Khac Truong's family planted 100 Dien grapefruit trees.
Every year, around the time of Lunar New Year, grapefruit ripens into golden yellow and becomes a popular Tet product.
This year, Mr. Truong's grapefruit garden has more than 7,000 fruits.
Although it is only the beginning of the 12th lunar month, many traders and customers have come to see the grapefruit, order the whole tree, and wait until Tet to harvest.
Mr. Truong and his wife also choose early ripe fruits to harvest first.
With the support of relatives promoting on social networks, his family's Dien grapefruit has been welcomed by customers in Ha Tinh City and Vinh City ( Nghe An ).
According to Mr. Truong, Dien grapefruit is easy to care for, does not need additional pollination but has a high fruit set rate.
Grapefruit has a sweet taste, not sour. The older the tree, the sweeter the grapefruit.
Currently, the selling price at the garden ranges from 10 - 15 thousand VND/fruit.
This year's grapefruit crop is expected to bring Mr. Truong's family about 70 million VND.
The most beautiful grapefruits are being prioritized by families for the Lunar New Year market.
