The rally is an opportunity for the entire education sector to affirm its role in accompanying the community in actions for a sustainable environment, while strongly spreading the message of "Reduce - Reuse - Recycle" in every daily behavior of students.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc said that according to the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the theme of World School Environment Day 2025 is “Beat Plastic Pollution”. This is an urgent call, demonstrating global consensus in controlling plastic waste.
In recent times, the education sector has been vigorously implementing communication activities, raising awareness, innovating propaganda forms and contents in a modern direction, applying technology and spreading green lifestyles, especially targeting the young generation in changing behavior and protecting the environment.
In order to respond extensively to the Month of Action for the Environment and World Environment Day, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc requested educational institutions nationwide to strengthen innovation in communication and propaganda on environmental protection; incorporate environmental education into the main curriculum and extracurricular activities, promote the model of "schools without plastic waste"; take practical actions and make green commitments not to use plastic bags and disposable plastic products...
“I believe that with a sense of responsibility, creativity and determination, the education sector will continue to promote its pioneering role in raising awareness and promoting environmental action, towards a Vietnam without plastic waste - a green future - a sustainable planet,” Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc emphasized.
According to Vice Chairwoman of the City People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Da Nang is very aware of the impact of climate change, rising sea levels and plastic waste pollution on the ecosystem and sustainable development of the locality. Therefore, for many years, the city has built “Da Nang - Environmental City” as a pillar in its urban development orientation.
Most recently, Da Nang has committed to join other Southeast Asian coastal cities in the “Clean Blue Cities” initiative, aiming to reduce 50% of plastic waste in the ocean by 2030.
The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee acknowledged and highly appreciated the University of Education for its many practical contributions in the field of environmental protection, helping to spread the message and connect specific actions for a green future.
In the coming time, the city will continue to accompany and support universities, educational organizations and communities in implementing environmental initiatives, improving capacity to respond to climate change and gradually building a green and sustainable learning society.
It is known that within the framework of the event, there are many creative activities such as: Exhibition of recycled products, awarding green initiatives, student action commitment forum... On this occasion, the organizing committee awarded the contest "Building videos and clips to protect the environment, classify waste and reduce plastic waste" launched by Dong Thap University in collaboration with Da Nang University.
