Serious landslide on National Highway 16 into Nhon Mai commune

On July 28, National Highway 16 into My Ly and Nhon Mai communes ( Nghe An province) continued to suffer serious landslides.

The day before, landslides were temporarily leveled, cars and motorbikes could enter and exit My Ly.

However, on the evening of July 27, heavy rain continued to occur, causing landslides and mud flowing down from the mountains, causing many places to be blocked. At the same time, the Nam Non River was flowing strongly, making it difficult to transport relief goods by waterway from My Ly to Nhon Mai.

Mr. Mac Van Nguyen, Secretary of the Nhon Mai Commune Party Committee, said that due to the potentially dangerous weather and traffic situation, the commune had to temporarily stop receiving relief aid to ensure everyone's safety.

In Muong Xen commune, since the evening of July 27, heavy rains continued to occur, causing severe landslides on National Highway 7A, making it impossible to travel. Many relief teams were stuck in Muong Xen, unable to go deep into the interior areas. Muong Xen commune had to arrange for more than 70 people to rest at Ky Son High School.

Faced with the serious landslide situation on National Highway 7A and to prioritize vehicles of the support force and relief goods, Nghe An Department of Construction in coordination with Nghe An Provincial Police has temporarily banned heavy trucks, especially trucks carrying ore, from circulating on this route.

On July 28, army, police, and medical forces continued to support people in cleaning up mud and houses; examining patients and distributing medicine.
