The most beautiful pagoda in Van Phong Bay: 4 sides facing the sea, free to check-in with the wind

During my vacation in Van Phong Bay (Khanh Hoa), I was surprised to learn about Thien An Dam Mon - the pagoda known as the most beautiful in this area.

From the super luxury resort, it only takes 5 minutes by train to see the pagoda standing tall on a hill jutting out into the sea, surrounded by waves and strong winds. The first feeling when arriving here is one of awe: From the main hall, visitors can see the bustling lobster farming village, the turquoise color of the sea in the distance and the winding mountain range embracing the entire space.

From the boat, the scene of Thien An pagoda gradually appeared.

What makes Thien An Pagoda different from many other coastal pagodas is its Vietnamese-Japanese fusion architecture. Surrounded by the sea, the red gate stands out, cherry blossoms are brilliant, and the minimalist landscape is reminiscent of a Zen garden in the Land of the Rising Sun. However, mixed in with that are the curved tiled roofs and pure white walls of a traditional Vietnamese pagoda, creating a rare harmony. Walking in the grounds, I feel like I am stepping through two cultural worlds , yet still feeling close and peaceful.

The lush green lawn leads down to the watchtower, where the temple management has set up many check-in corners for visitors to stop by. From here, just raise your camera and every frame becomes sparkling: the clear sky, the blue sea and the majestic temple in the middle of nature.

Thien An Pagoda also owns a natural treasure, the hundred-year-old kơ nia tree, recognized by the Vietnam Record Organization in 2021 as "Century Ancient Tree". The tree's rough roots and lush foliage shade the entire yard, becoming a place to preserve the memories of many generations.

Standing under the shade of an ancient tree, listening to the rustling leaves and the sea breeze, the temple bells ringing and the sound of the waves make people temporarily forget their daily worries. Some visitors said that during their visits, the abbot invited them to have vegetarian meals right at the temple.

The temple is located on the cape so the view is extremely unique, cool, clean, and decorated with many Japanese-style miniatures. From here you can see the pristine sea and islands with fish rafts and busy boats.

Some people are impressed by the road leading to the temple with long stretches of white sand on both sides, red bridges, cherry blossoms and a view of the sea.

The best time to visit is early morning to watch the sunrise.

Visitors can go to the temple in two directions. From Nha Trang, follow the national highway about 100 km or from Tuy Hoa ( Phu Yen ) down only about an hour, the road is quite convenient, on both sides are white sand and green casuarina trees. If you stay at the resorts in the bay, you can choose to go by canoe, just a few minutes to get there. The most ideal time to visit is early morning to watch the sunrise or spring during the Lunar New Year; and clothing should be polite and discreet because this is a sacred place.

In the picture of Khanh Hoa's tourism development, Thien An Pagoda has become a unique spiritual and cultural highlight combined with a check-in point. This place is not only a place to visit and pray for peace, but also a place where nature, architecture and people meet.

And when standing on the watchtower enjoying the breeze, looking towards the horizon where Van Phong's waves meet the sky, I suddenly understood why many people call this the most beautiful pagoda in this bay. A worthy stopover for anyone visiting Van Phong to experience, to see that there are peaceful and windy moments that will follow us long after leaving.
