On October 30 and 31, the People's Committee of Can Loc district and Hong Linh town ( Ha Tinh ) launched a nationwide movement to kill rats and protect crops.
Can Loc people mobilized to kill rats.
In Can Loc , taking advantage of the rainy and flooded days, when the fields were flooded and rats had no place to live, 4 localities in the area called on farmers to participate in the movement to exterminate rats to protect crops. Most communes implemented the method of digging holes, pouring water, smoking...
During the two days from October 30 to 31, people exterminated 21,600 rats, including 11,000 in Khanh Vinh Yen commune; 3,600 in Kim Song Truong; 5,000 in Trung Loc; and 2,000 in Thuong Nga.
People collected the rats and buried them according to proper procedures to protect the environment.
To encourage people to participate in rat extermination, localities provide financial support (1,000 - 2,000 VND/rat) or calculate the work days for rat extermination to offset the annual work days for transportation and irrigation in the fields of families.
The movement to kill rats to protect crops will continue to be carried out by localities in Can Loc district in the coming days.
In Hong Linh town, localities have mobilized all forces in the residential community, agricultural production households, union members and youth to catch rats. The peak period of concentrated rat catching in the entire ward and commune took place from October 31 to November 10, 2023.
During 2 days (October 29 and 30), taking advantage of the time when the water level in the fields rose, focusing on places where rats hide a lot such as: sandbanks, cemeteries, bushes, residential areas, offices... people caught 35,858 rats.
Mice are collected and buried according to proper procedures to protect the environment.
The popular method is still manual fishing such as setting traps, digging holes to pour water, dams... Typical in this movement are Dau Lieu ward, Duc Thuan and Thuan Loc commune.
To encourage farmers in the rat extermination movement, agricultural production cooperatives bought each rat for 2,000 VND.
