However, most cases of diphtheria vaccination received notice that the vaccine was out of stock.

Specifically, starting from early afternoon, people were present at the vaccination clinic area of the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City waiting to receive vaccination books to get the diphtheria vaccine. Because the number of people coming to get vaccinated was too large, the institute did not have enough vaccines to provide for people coming to get vaccinated on the afternoon of July 11.

Most of the people, after waiting, received the notice that the medicine was out of stock and had to go home. Others chose to find another place.

Ms. Nguyen Kim Hue (51 years old, living in District 3) said: "As soon as the news of diphtheria appeared, my son took me to the Pasteur Institute to get vaccinated. But when I arrived, I learned that the vaccine was out of stock. I hope there will be a vaccine soon so I can get vaccinated."

A representative of the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City informed that at noon on July 11, the Pasteur Institute temporarily ran out of diphtheria vaccine because in recent days the number of people coming to the institute to get vaccinated against diphtheria has increased dramatically.

Doctor Dinh Van Thoi, head of the vaccination clinic - Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City, said the number of people coming to get vaccinated against diphtheria has increased dramatically in the past two days. Previously, Pasteur Institute only received about 10-11 people per day to get vaccinated against diphtheria, but in the past two days, this number has fluctuated between 100-130 people.

According to Dr. Thoi, diphtheria is an infectious disease, there is now a vaccine to prevent it and there is also medicine to treat it.

Not a rare vaccine

According to a representative of the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City, diphtheria vaccine is not a rare vaccine. Vaccines are available at vaccination centers such as district and commune health centers and Thu Duc City. People can get vaccinated against diphtheria at these vaccination points.

The Pasteur Institute is urgently conducting direct vaccine procurement under the Bidding Law to supplement the source of diphtheria vaccine.
