Start from the grassroots

Kha Son commune was established on July 1, 2025, on the basis of merging 5 communes: Kha Son, Luong Phu, Duong Thanh, Tan Duc and Thanh Ninh. In the past time, the commune has deployed 37 rural traffic projects, of which 24 projects were completed, creating a new look in the countryside. The movement of "donating land for road construction" has spread strongly, many households are willing to move constructions and assets to expand village roads and alleys.

In Bach Thong commune, a locality established on the basis of merging three communes: Dong Thang, Duong Phong and Quang Thuan, there are five villages meeting new rural standards, of which Dong Thang commune before the merger had met advanced new rural standards since 2023. Located on National Highway 3B, the commune takes advantage of trade to expand the consumption of agricultural products. With nearly 1,200 hectares of rice, an average yield of 48 quintals/ha; forest cover of more than 75%; 12 cooperatives and eight recognized OCOP products, Bach Thong commune is affirming its sustainable development direction.

Not only in Kha Son or Bach Thong, but also in other localities of Thai Nguyen province, everywhere one can clearly feel the new vitality spreading from the grassroots. The determination of the Party Committee, the government and the consensus of the people are creating a changing face of the countryside every day.

From effective production models, Bach Thong commune has had 8 recognized OCOP products.

Ms. Ma Thi Man, Secretary of the Party Committee of Bach Thong Commune, shared: Socio -economic development in general and new rural construction in particular after the merger have great challenges, but also many opportunities. During the implementation process, the local Party Committee and government always determined to take the people as the center, the subject of the program, when the people trust and join hands, all difficulties can be overcome.

Towards sustainable goals

In the 2021-2025 period, the New Rural Development Program in Thai Nguyen has recorded many important achievements. The whole province has 144/216 communes meeting the standards, of which 54 communes meet the advanced standards and 12 communes meet the model standards; the average annual poverty reduction rate reached 1.41%, exceeding the set plan. These results demonstrate the efforts, determination and effectiveness of policies to support livelihoods and improve people's lives.

The major highlight of the past term is the synchronous investment in rural socio-economic infrastructure: transportation, irrigation, schools, medical stations, electricity grid... have been gradually completed. The landscape environment is green - clean - beautiful; the cultural - sports movement is vibrant; traditional identity is preserved and exploited in conjunction with community tourism development, which has been opening up new directions, increasing income for people.

In addition, many clean, organic, high-tech agricultural production models have been formed. Collective economy, with cooperatives as the core, has increasingly affirmed its role, deeply participating in the value chain, creating stable output for products...

It can be affirmed that, through the effective implementation of the new rural construction movement, it has contributed to making the appearance of localities have positive developments, people's lives have been improved and cultural identity has been preserved and promoted.

Entering the 2025-2030 period, from the existing solid foundation, the province has identified three development focuses. These are building a modern, comprehensive, and sustainable new rural area, in which synchronous infrastructure investment is associated with people's quality of life; implementing poverty reduction in a sustainable, comprehensive, and equitable direction.

Along with that, the province focuses on developing the rural economy based on science and technology, digital transformation and innovation, promoting clean and organic agriculture, expanding consumption markets and building strong agricultural product brands.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam, Head of the Department of Economic Cooperation and Rural Development of Thai Nguyen province, emphasized: In the 2025-2030 term, we attach special importance to bringing technology and digital transformation to the grassroots. This is the key to increasing the value of agricultural products, increasing competitiveness, and at the same time building a self-reliant, cohesive and happy rural community.

With these orientations, the province not only aims to increase the rate of communes meeting new rural standards but also to build rural areas in the direction of "ecological agriculture, modern countryside, civilized farmers"; affirming the determination to build a rich, civilized, sustainable Thai Nguyen - where people are truly the subject of development.
