Today, August 30, Mr. Le Trung Dao, Vice Principal of the University of Finance and Marketing, apologized to nearly 80 candidates for some errors in the admission process.
"The unexpected incident has affected the students' psychology. We always ensure the maximum benefits for the candidates, and at the same time, we are open, transparent and coordinate with the Ministry of Education and Training in supervising and handling this matter," said Mr. Dao.
The University of Finance and Marketing sent a message to the candidate informing him/her that he/she had passed, but in reality, the candidate had "fakely passed" due to the school's scoring error.
According to the Vice Principal, during the implementation of the regular university entrance exam in 2025, the school converted scores from English certificates to English subject scores in the admission subject group. During the implementation process, due to errors in data processing, some candidates were scored incorrectly, affecting the admission results. This error did not originate from the general admission support system of the Ministry of Education and Training, but from the data processing in the school's admission process. Because of this, nearly 80 students fell into the situation of passing but failing (virtually passing) and failing unfairly.
The incident was reported to the Ministry of Education and Training. Because the Ministry of Education and Training's system had confirmed that these candidates had passed the University of Finance and Marketing, when this incident occurred, they could not confirm their next wishes to other suitable schools.
The school has now provided support for candidates to complete the admission procedures for their next choices, and has also sent official dispatches to these universities to ask for their support and create conditions for them to change from passing to failing. As for candidates who have changed from failing to passing, the school has sent them admission notices and admission notices according to their wishes to the university.
As reported by the Vietnam Women Newspaper, on August 29, the Vietnam Women Newspaper received a hotline call and a letter asking for support from candidate Nguyen Ngoc Diem Phuong, born in 2007, residing in Ho Chi Minh City, about her university admission notice turning out to be a failure. While she had paid the full tuition fee to enroll. Phuong and her family were extremely worried because the deadline to close the Ministry of Education and Training's admission system was only 1 day left.
After receiving the information, the Vietnam Women's Newspaper contacted the representative of the University of Finance and Marketing. And now Nguyen Ngoc Diem Phuong has completed her registration to the next school.
This afternoon, August 30, the female student and her family sent their thanks to the Vietnamese Women's Newspaper for their enthusiastic support and timely response to this incident.
