On September 30, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health announced the decision to appoint Dr. Ngo Ngoc Quang Minh as Director of Children's Hospital 1 (Ho Chi Minh City).

Speaking at the ceremony to receive his new assignment, the new director set the goal of the hospital becoming the leading pediatric medical center in Southeast Asia, ensuring the hospital's sustainable development in a "three-legged" position.

Accordingly, the hospital constantly develops technical expertise, enhances professional capacity, and is a solid foundation for the development of frontline hospitals and grassroots health care facilities.

In addition, we need to improve the quality of treatment and patient service, aiming at the satisfaction of patients and students and ensuring the legitimate rights of medical staff.

In addition, always innovate, encourage initiatives, improvements and innovative applications in operations, ensuring efficiency and adaptability to increasingly high development requirements.

Children's Hospital 1 will also focus on synchronous development in three strategic aspects, including: infrastructure, human resources and specialized specialties.

Dr. Minh said that one of the top priorities of Children's Hospital 1 in the coming time is to promote digital transformation with the goal of completing electronic medical records, moving towards building a smart hospital.

The hospital will focus on ensuring quality, improving scientific research capacity, promoting innovation and enhancing international cooperation.

The new Director of Children's Hospital 1 has set out five key programs for his new term: building the hospital into a comprehensive specialized and multidisciplinary center; becoming a center for specialized training, coaching and scientific research; developing a friendly and professional hospital environment; promoting digital transformation, moving towards a smart hospital; striving to become a successful and sustainably developing hospital.

Also at the ceremony, Associate Professor Nguyen Thanh Hung - former Director of Children's Hospital 1 - expressed his deep gratitude to the leaders of the health sector, teachers and colleagues who have accompanied him throughout his working journey.

Dr. Ngo Ngoc Quang Minh graduated as a general practitioner in 1997 from the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Training and Development of Medical Staff (now Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine).

In 2003, he completed his master's degree in pediatrics at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City. He successfully defended his doctoral thesis in medicine in 2014 at the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit, one of the world's leading clinical research centers.

Dr. Minh has held many important management positions at the hospital. In 2017, he was appointed Deputy Director of Children's Hospital 1.
