What's new in the newly expanded Phan Chau Chinh walking street in Hoi An?

On the evening of May 15, the People's Committee of Hoi An City ( Quang Nam ) organized the opening ceremony of the "Street for pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles" on Phan Chau Trinh Street.

Phase 1 of the expansion of the "Street for pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles" on Phan Chau Trinh Street will be implemented from May 15. The walking street operates every day of the week, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. during summer hours and until 9:00 p.m. during winter hours.

The operating space is from the intersection of Nguyen Hue - Phan Chau Trinh street to the intersection of Cao Hong Lanh - Phan Chau Trinh street.

Phase 2 is expected to be implemented from January 1, 2024. Operating hours are from 3:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in summer and until 9:00 p.m. in winter, also on all days of the week.

Along with expanding the walking street space, Hoi An City also introduced many cultural experiences and art performances to serve the people and tourists such as: Hat Boi at Van Chi Minh Huong; music performance by the band "Cung Dan Xua" at 49 Phan Chu Trinh.

In addition, there is also a space for tea ceremony, Do paper stamping, lion head painting, Ong Dia mask painting at Hoi An communal house; folk games at Phap Bao lake; basketball exchange, Chinese language teaching at Ngu Bang Assembly Hall... to bring many diverse and attractive experiences.

Tourists visit the old town

The city also arranges free parking spots for residents in the area, parking spots for tourists, tourist vehicle transfer points and improves the public restroom system, urban order, environmental sanitation...

Previously, since 2004, the project "Street for pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles" was organized in Hoi An ancient town. After nearly 20 years of implementation, the project has not only had a profound impact, contributing to improving the lives of people in the area but also become a unique cultural - tourism product, providing visitors with a safe and quiet space to enjoy the scenery and explore the history, culture and people of Hoi An.

From May 15, Hoi An City began implementing a new plan in the organization and management of activities to visit Hoi An ancient town. Notably, the local government tightened the sale of tickets to visit the ancient town, especially not "leaving out" tourists who go on tours to prevent loss of ticket revenue.
