The tourism industry needs to research and develop a set of principles on “Digital Tourism and Green Tourism” - a common framework of standards, encouraging countries and businesses to apply, so that global tourism can develop harmoniously, responsibly and sustainably. In addition, the industry focuses on promoting regional and industry linkages to develop sustainable tourism value chains, linking tourism with agriculture , culture, environment and science and technology... thereby forming unique, distinctive products with depth and high competitiveness.

This is the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh at the 2025 High-Level Tourism Forum “Shaping the Future of Tourism: Towards Digital Transformation and Green Transformation,” held within the framework of the Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair 2025 (ITE HCMC 2025), taking place on the morning of September 4, in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh, the Forum is an important event, a meeting place for initiatives and building trust in the future of rapid and sustainable tourism development. With its central location in Southeast Asia, Vietnam has many distinct potentials, outstanding opportunities, and competitive advantages for tourism development such as a peaceful , stable, secure, and safe environment.

Vietnam possesses a rich treasure of cultural and historical heritage, including 9 world heritages and 16 representative intangible cultural heritages of humanity recognized by UNESCO. Vietnam also has unique cuisine; majestic, beautiful, diverse and rich nature; friendly and affectionate people; reasonable travel costs and increasingly professional and high-quality services. Vietnam has a young and abundant human resource, contributing to the development of tourism human resources.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that after expanding its administrative boundaries, Ho Chi Minh City continues to affirm its position as the largest economic and tourist center in the country, converging outstanding potential in economics, culture, services and international connectivity.

The city not only has an open, dynamic and creative urban space, but also has a diversity of cultural and historical heritage, the Can Gio mangrove biosphere, fruit gardens and river landscapes. Along with that, the vibrant pace of life and high-class service ecosystem create a unique attraction to make the city a "gateway" to welcome international visitors and the starting point of many journeys to explore Vietnam.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh, the Government and the Prime Minister have always paid attention to and issued many policies and strategies to develop tourism. Recently, the Prime Minister has directed the implementation of solutions to promote tourism development, ensuring double-digit economic growth, emphasizing that the tourism industry needs to continue to accelerate the digital transformation process associated with green transformation, maximizing the potential resources and advantages of each region and locality. At the same time, the tourism industry is determined to achieve sustainable development goals according to the motto "Unique products - Professional services - Convenient and simple procedures - Competitive prices - Clean and beautiful environment - Safe, civilized and friendly destinations."
