Quang Ngai: A woman was swept away by water and went missing while trying to cross a spillway.

On July 3, Ms. Vo Thi Xuan Lieu, Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Ha commune (Quang Ngai province), confirmed that a local woman was swept away and went missing while trying to cross Thach Nham spillway bridge during floodwaters.

Son Ha Commune Police organized a search for missing people along both sides of the river.

The victim was Ms. Ly THC (born in 1985, residing in Can Son village, Son Ha commune).

According to initial information, at about 4:20 a.m. the same day, Ms. C. drove her motorbike across Thach Nham spillway bridge - where the authorities had pulled down the barrier and posted a warning sign prohibiting passage due to high water from upstream flowing into the Tra Khuc river.

When reaching the middle of the bridge, the water overflowed about 10cm over the bridge surface, causing Ms. C. to lose control, fall into the rushing water and be swept away.

Immediately after receiving the news, local authorities mobilized forces and means to organize the search. By the afternoon of the same day, the search was still continuing.

Authorities recommend that people absolutely do not cross overflow bridges or flooded roads during heavy rains and floods to ensure safety.
