Morning Star Nguyen Thu Hang:

In a conversation with a reporter from Hanoi Moi Newspaper, the female singer revealed her role as Vice President of the "Happiness for Everyone" Fund, her decade-long charity journey, and her artistic plans for the new period.

- After a long period of silence, Nguyen Thu Hang has just made an impressive return to the stage of Vietnam International Fashion Week 2025 with her signature folk song "Qua cau gio bay". How do you feel when you meet the audience again?

- In the past two years, I have spent a lot of time with my family and focused on teaching at the Vietnam National Academy of Music, so I rarely appeared on stage and rarely produced music products. Returning to perform in front of a large audience, I was truly moved. The moment I sang "Qua cau gio bay" in an artistic space, I felt like I was reliving the intact emotions of my early days in the profession - nervous, moved and grateful. Art for me has never been just a job, it is my lifeblood, the way I connect with the world. This time I come back with a new mindset, having passed through quiet but meaningful milestones in life.

- Many audiences were surprised to learn that you have held the role of Executive Vice President of the "Happiness for Everyone" Fund for 10 years. What made you decide to be so deeply involved in charity work?

- Since the first days of entering the profession, I have received a lot of love from the public. And I always keep in mind that I need to share love and happiness with everyone, especially those in difficult circumstances.

When the "Happiness for Everyone" Fund was established in 2015, operating with the goal of sponsoring surgeries for children with congenital heart disease and supporting cancer patients in difficult circumstances across the country, I found it extremely meaningful and decided to join. Over the past ten years, together with everyone on the Fund's Executive Board, I have visited hospitals, connected with sponsors, and organized fundraising programs to help disadvantaged children with congenital heart disease have the opportunity to have surgery. To date, the fund has supported more than 530 children with congenital heart disease to have surgery, and given more than 11,000 gifts to disadvantaged patients.

As an artist, I always want the audience to recognize my efforts in art and constantly strive to develop my career. As for charity work, I only contribute a small part with the Fund's Executive Board to try to do the best things for children and patients, with all my heart and soul. For me, doing charity is not to be known, but to truly share and live meaningfully. Therefore, I chose to keep my role a secret for the past 10 years. Only when the Fund turned 10 years old and looked back on the past journey, did I feel that I should share it as a way to thank the audience and the benefactors who have always accompanied us.

- At the event “Thien 2025” celebrating the 10th anniversary of the “Happiness for All” Fund last June, you said that this was the beginning of the next 10-year journey. More specifically, what do you expect in the journey ahead?

- What Ms. Nguyen Thanh Huong, President of the "Happiness for Everyone" Fund and I, along with the Fund's Executive Board, are cherishing is to support 1,000 heart surgeries for poor children in the next 10 years. That number is not just a commitment, but our desire to contribute.

In fact, fundraising and maintaining operations is not simple. But I believe that, with transparency, dedication and unity, we will continue to receive the trust of domestic and foreign philanthropists. Like the recent “Thien 2025” program, in just one hour, the fund received nearly 1 billion VND in support. Such acts of kindness motivate us to continue.

- Returning to art, recently, besides singing her forte of folk music, Nguyen Thu Hang also performed songs with other colors, such as "Let's be happy with Vietnamese Press Day" in the art program "Forever red heart - Sharp pen" to celebrate 100 years of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Can you share more about your upcoming musical plans?

- Being able to perform in such a meaningful program is a precious opportunity for me to express my gratitude to the team of journalists - those who have always accompanied and spread my artistic and volunteer journey to the community. It is also an opportunity for me to show my new image.

Currently, I am cherishing the idea of making a music album, expected to be released at the end of this year. I want to bring the image of a Nguyen Thu Hang who dares to step out of her comfort zone, experiment with different colors, and is not afraid to renew herself. I am full of inspiration and energy.

In addition to developing my artistic path, I will also continue to participate in community programs. For me, art and volunteering are two important parts of my meaningful life journey.
