On September 16, information from Dong Thap Provincial Police said that local authorities are completing documents to handle Tran Hoai Bao (26 years old, residing in An Binh A ward, Hong Ngu city) for impersonating a military officer.

Previously, on the evening of September 14, An Binh A Ward Police received a report about a tenant who appeared to be impersonating a military officer. The local police coordinated with the Hong Ngu City Military Command to verify.

Even when the authorities were present, the subject still claimed to be an army captain, commander of a unit under Military Region 7. However, through verification, the Hong Ngu City Military Command determined that the information the subject provided was false.

When he could no longer beat around the bush, the "fake officer" revealed his real name and admitted to buying his own uniform online.

Searching Bao's residence, the police seized many military belongings, a pair of handcuffs and a plastic gun.
