Stichting Oxfam NOVIB supports Quang Tri to increase access to information

The project "Enhancing access to information through digital transformation in sustainable management of natural resources and environmental protection" is sponsored by Stichting Oxfam NOVIB with a budget of more than 160,000 EUR (about 4.24 billion VND), contributing to sustainable management of natural resources and environmental protection in two communes of Bo Trach and Phong Nha (Quang Tri), and expanding the digitalization of information systems at 78 commune-level units and provincial departments, branches and sectors.

At the workshop organized by the Center for Digital Transformation and Information Technology of Quang Tri province (Department of Science & Technology) on September 8, 2025 in Dong Hoi ward, delegates directly exchanged practical experiences, discussed policies as well as consulted on solutions for the Project to be implemented effectively and in accordance with the actual conditions of the locality, contributing to realizing the goal of digital transformation associated with sustainable development of the province.

Delegates also commented that the project will help improve management capacity, support local State agencies to effectively implement the Law on Access to Information, increase public awareness; and help people have better access to information on resources and the environment through the media and core groups.

The project also sets a general goal that by 2026, access to information and cooperation in the field of natural resource and environmental protection for local officials and people, especially vulnerable groups such as women, ethnic minorities and people with disabilities, will be enhanced. Thereby, contributing to sustainable management of natural resources and environmental protection in the locality.

Focused on implementation in two communes Bo Trach and Phong Nha, at the same time expanding the digitization of information systems in 78 commune-level units and provincial departments, branches and sectors. The project activities not only aim to standardize information, improve the capacity of officials and the community but also aim to replicate good models, contributing to policy making.

The project is also an opportunity for localities to improve management capacity, raise community awareness and promote the role of core groups in propaganda, mobilization and guidance for people to effectively exploit information sources on resources and environment.
