Hanoi Television recently held a press conference to introduce "Trang An Firewall", the first long-running television series in Vietnam that deeply explores the topics of online fraud and virtual currency crimes.
The film was invested in and produced by Hanoi Radio and Television Station with 40 to 45 episodes, inspired by real cases, including the case of Mr. Pips, aka Pho Duc Nam, who was prosecuted by the Hanoi City Police Department for fraud, appropriation of property, and money laundering, which caused a stir in public opinion in 2024.
Screenwriter Vu Liem said the script was distilled from real life, increasing the cinematic climax to expose the sophisticated tricks of high-tech criminals and breathtaking mind games with the police force.
Journalist Nguyen Kim Khiem, General Director and Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Radio and Television Station, emphasized that this is the station's key project in 2025, aiming to honor the bravery, intelligence and silent sacrifice of the Capital Police force in the war on cyberspace.
Regarding the idea of the film, journalist Nguyen Trung Son, Deputy General Director of Hanoi Radio and Television Station, shared: In early 2025, at a meeting with voters in the capital, people made many suggestions about the issue of cybercrime.
Also at that event, Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung, Director of Hanoi City Police, reported in detail on major fraud cases that the city police have cracked down on in recent years.
"These stories gave me the idea for Trang An Firewall. The film is a special work in 2025, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the People's Public Security Forces' tradition," said Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung.
At the press conference, Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Quyen, Deputy Director of Hanoi City Police, affirmed that the police force will accompany, provide professional advice and directly participate in some roles to make the film more vivid and realistic.
The main cast of the film includes Meritorious Artist Hoang Hai, Meritorious Artist Trinh Mai Nguyen, Hong Lien... In which, Meritorious Artist Hoang Hai continues to transform into the image of a People's Police officer after 20 years since the film Criminal Police.
The film is expected to air from October 2025.
